PKL 12: Gujarat Giants coach reveals reason behind Mohammadreza Shadloui's new role

Telugu Titans registered their fifth win in PKL 12 by defeating the Gujarat Giants.

Telugu Titans edged past the Gujarat Giants by the finest of margins in the 47th match of Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12) to secure their fifth win of the season. Bharat Hooda led by example for the Titans while skipper Vijay Malik and star defender Shubham Shinde followed suit.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Giants will consider themselves very unlucky having lost seven games so far, including five in a row. The Giants are desperate to revive their campaign, and they have to act soon; otherwise, it will be too late.

Pressure management

Telugu Titans head coach Krishan Kumar Hooda explained how the team manages the pressure in such high-voltage games. “Whatever the situation is, it has to be told to them. If they follow this properly, then it’s great, but even the smallest mistakes can cost us the match.”

“The role of the captain is the most important in a match like this. The coach has very little say because there are ups and downs at every single point right from the beginning. So I want to give all the credit for this to our captain, Vijay,” he added.

Telugu Titans’ CEO Trinadh Reddy thanked the fans for their support and said, “When the team comes under a winning streak, then definitely we are happy with that, and the same winning streak should be continued in Chennai. Krishan Kumar Hooda shared his winning strategy against the Giants. He said, “During the strategic timeout, I told my players to play a do-or-die match, forget the win or loss, you do not have to look at the first, second, or third. I told them to consider all the raids as third raids, and you do your attack, and they got it done that way. This was our strategy.”

Gujarat Giants assistant coach Varinder Singh spoke about Mohammadreza Shadloui’s performance and said, “He played well after not getting scores for a long time. Today, we changed his role. He is an all-rounder, and we also knew that he would definitely score, and he has the hunger to score. Today he made a try, we also liked it, and I am sure that the audience was also happy to see his performance in his 100th match.”
