PKL 12: List of players released, retained by Haryana Steelers ahead of auction

The defending champions have retained 9 players across different categories for PKL 12.

Haryana Steelers lifted the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 11 trophy and were immaculate throughout the season. As a result, the franchise has tried to retain their core squad from the previous season. As the Steelers announced their retention list on Saturday morning, it was no surprise that they retained 9 players out of 18 who featured in the PKL 11.

Manpreet Singh’s Steelers were a perfect squad with a balanced combination of raiders, defenders, and all-rounders. However, all-rounder Mohammadreza Shadloui, who provided crucial balance to the team, has been released ahead of the auction. Despite that, Singh managed to keep the victorious essence from the previous season by retaining nine important players.

List of retained players:

Elite Retained Players: Rahul Sethpal, Vinay Tewatia

Retained Young Players: Shivam Patare, Jaideep, Jaya Soorya NS, Vishal Tate

Existing New Young Players: Sahil, Manikandan N, Vikas Jadhav

Mohammadreza Shadloui, Sanjay, Naveen, Sanskar Mishra, Ashish Gill, Manikandan S, Ghanshyam Magar, Vikul Lamba, Hardeep.

Haryana Steelers dominated last season. They topped the table in the league stage and followed it up with impressive victories in the playoffs and the final to become the first-ever PKL champions.

Going into the next season, the coach, Manpreet Singh, might feel the extra pressure to defend the title. The team management has retained its crucial strength before the auction. Now, it will be interesting to see how they pursue their leftover budget in the upcoming auction to strengthen their squad yet again to the level that can help them retain the title.

The PKL 12 auction will take place on May 31 and June 1. This time, some big names will go under the hammer, and the Steelers would look to add some big names, especially all-rounders.
