PKL 12: "We are missing Pawan Sehrawat.."- Tamil Thalaivas coach shares his thoughts on star raider's absence

Tamil Thalaivas parted ways with Pawan Sehrawat mid-way into PKL 12.

Defending champions Haryana Steelers maintained their dominance over the Tamil Thalaivas with yet another 38-36 win and secured their sixth win of Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12) in the process. With this win, the defending champions are now on level terms with Puneri Paltan and Dabang Delhi at the top of the standings.

Shivam Patare and Vijay scored 16 points combined and led the Steelers to a two-point win in PKL 12. Tamil Thalaivas, led by Arjun Deshwal, came ever so close, but couldn’t avoid defeat.

After the PKL 12 match, representatives from the teams addressed the media.

Tamil Thalaivas 

Overdependency on Arjun Deshwal

When asked if Tamil Thalaivas are being overdependent on him, Arjun Deshwal said, “I am the main raider of the team, and sir has already told me that if I don’t have confidence in myself, then nothing will work. Yes, mistakes were made in the first half in raiding and defending.

We covered a huge lead in the second half. But, after that, two or three mistakes in defence became very big and the lona happened very late. So that is why we lost the match somewhere,”

Pawan Sehrawat’s absence

Tamil Thalaivas assistant coach was asked if the team is missing Pawan Sehrawat in PKL 12, and he immediately said, “Yes, we are missing Pawan Sehrawat.”

Thoughts on the game

Haryana Steelers head coach Manpreet Singh spoke about the game and said, “It feels great that my players have won all four matches in the Jaipur leg and that too against big teams and as a coach, I feel very good that I’m the first coach to have won 100 matches in Pro Kabaddi. I have won the trophy both as a player and as a Coach. So it feels very good to hear this,”

Naveen’s absence

Jaideep Dahiya spoke about how much the team will miss Naveen Kumar, who will not play anymore this season due to an injury. He said, “Naveen will be missed a lot because he is a superstar raider of our team.

He has played on the spot and has shown his worth to the team by taking points, so we will miss him a lot, but will we try to make him win this time too and give him a good gift by winning the trophy again,”

Pawan Sehrawat’s absence

Manpreet Singh also shared his views on how Pawan Sehrawat’s absence affected the Tamil Thalaivas in PKL 12. “Pawan Shehrawat is a very big name. He is a world champion and an Asian Games gold medalist.

So if such a big player is out of your team, whether it is due to injury or otherwise, then it will affect the team’s performance and if he had raided with Arjun Deshwal, it would have been more difficult for us. Since Pawan is not there, we had to focus only on Arjun. So it was easy for us. But if Tamil Thalaivas had more strength, they would have done well,”
