PKL 12 Auction: Jang Kun Lee returns to Bengal Warriorz after 7 years

Jang Kun Lee had made his PKL debut with Bengal Warriorz.
South Korean star Jang Kun Lee is set to wear the Bengal Warriorz jersey once again after being picked up at his base price of ₹13 lakh during the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12) auction in Mumbai. The raider, who has been one of the most recognised overseas faces in PKL history, will be hoping to make the most of this second stint with the Warriorz franchise.
Though the Warriorz roped him in at a bargain deal, fans know that Lee’s experience and familiarity with the game could make him a valuable addition, especially in crunch moments of the league.
Jang Kun Lee made his return to PKL last season after a four-year gap, joining three-time champions and PKL 11 runners-up Patna Pirates. However, his comeback didn’t quite go as expected. He featured in just one match and managed to earn a single raid point, and didn’t get a chance to showcase his full potential.
The lack of game time and impact in PKL 11 may have played a part in the low bidding interest this season, but Bengal Warriorz saw enough to bet on their former star at the PKL 12 auction.
A look at Jang Kun Lee’s PKL journey
Jang Kun Lee made his PKL debut with Bengal Warriorz in the inaugural season and spent six consecutive years with them. His performances during those seasons made him a fan favourite, and in Season 5, he was retained by the Warriors for ₹80.30 lakh, making him one of the highest-paid overseas players at the time.
Across 110 matches in his PKL career, Jang Kun Lee has racked up an impressive 497 total points, with 472 of those coming from raids. He has registered 14 Super Raids and 9 Super 10s, maintaining a solid average of 4.29 raid points per match and an excellent not-out percentage of over 78%.
While his defensive numbers are modest, with 25 tackle points and 4 Super Tackles, his main strength lies in his ability to raid under pressure and use his agility to outsmart defenders.
Now back with Bengal Warriorz, Jang Kun Lee has a chance to revive his PKL journey. With a point to prove and a legacy to protect, fans will be eager to see if the Korean star can deliver one more memorable season in the blue and red.
