PKL 12: Key player battles to watch out for in Match 6, Bengal Warriorz vs Haryana Steelers

Both teams will play their first match of PKL 12.

The defending champions, Haryana Steelers, will begin their Pro Kabaddi League 12 (PKL 12) campaign against Season 7 champion Bengal Warriorz. Both teams would want their star players to perform in the opening match, with a potential blockbuster clash on the cards featuring the likes of Naveen Kumar and Devank Dalal.

Bengal Warriorz have added last year’s best raider, Devank Dalal, and he is expected to repeat the same performance this year as well.

On the other hand, Manpreet Singh’s team has shown faith in Naveen Kumar, whose last two seasons have been affected by injuries. They will be hoping for a turnaround in Naveen’s performance.

Coach Manpreet Singh, who always makes a defence-heavy squad, will have a lot of faith in his strong defensive lineup today. On that note, let’s take a look at the key battles to watch out for between Bengal Warriorz and Haryana Steelers in PKL 12.

Devank Dalal vs Jaideep Dahiya

The most anticipated battle of the match will be the battle of the two captains. Both Devank and Jaideep would be looking to start their campaign with a win.

Devank, who was the best raider last season, will be looking to replicate the same form this year as well. He can single-handedly turn the match in Bengal’s favour. If Haryana needs to win, they need to stop Devank from scoring points

There is no better man than Jaideep Dahiya to stop Devank. The left cover will be one of the threats for Bengal’s raiding department and will play a key role in keeping Devank out of the match. He had a 46 per cent tackle strike rate last year.

Nitesh Kumar vs Shivam Patare

Nitesh Kumar has been one of the reliable defenders on the Bengal side last season. He had a 50 percent tackle strike rate last season. The right corner specialist can be lethal for Haryana Steelers, and he can be crucial for Bengal’s win, and must be stopped by Haryana’s raiding unit if they want to win.

On the other hand, Shivam Patre, the left raider, can be a major threat to Bengal’s defence. Shivam had a decent season last year, scoring 158 raid points and being a headache for the opposition defence. Shivam possesses a remarkable ability and performs exceptionally well under pressure.

Mayur Kadam vs Naveen Kumar

The left cover specialist who was with Bengal last season will be looking to improve his performance. He had a tackle strike rate of 38 percent last year. Mayur can be lethal for Bengal, and if in form, he can be a major threat for Haryana.

On the other hand, Naveen Kumar, who has been struggling with injuries in the last few seasons, will be looking for an injury-free season.

Despite not performing well last season, Naveen can’t be taken lightly, and if he is at his best, he can single-handedly take the match away from the opposition.
