PKL 12: [Watch] Coach Krishan Hooda slams referee for wrong decision in Qualifier 2

Telugu Titans’ PKL 12 journey ended with a loss to Puneri Paltan in Qualifier 2.

Season 10 champions Puneri Paltan have confirmed their place in the final of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12). They defeated the Telugu Titans 50-45 in Qualifier 2, securing their third final appearance in the last four seasons.

Puneri Paltan will now face Dabang Delhi as they aim for their second PKL title. The match started with the Titans inflicting an early all-out and taking a 9-point lead, but Pune made a brilliant comeback, reducing the gap to just four points by half-time.

They inflicted an all-out on Telugu Titans early in the second half, and from there, the game went neck and neck. In the end, Pune held their nerves and clinched victory after inflicting another all-out on the Titans. Aditya Shinde proved to be the star for them, scoring 21 raid points.

After the game, Telugu Titans head coach Krishan Kumar Hooda addressed the media.

On the mistakes by the defence

Telugu Titans head coach Krishan Hooda blamed the defenders for the team’s loss and explained, “Our raiding unit had no problems, but the way our defenders played today was disappointing. They were the reason we lost. I don’t understand what Ajit Pawar was doing; he alone gave away 8–9 points.”

“We’ll have to work on our defence next season. Although they performed well throughout the season, they failed today, and that is unacceptable. Puneri Paltan didn’t win today; our defence let them win. If we had managed even two crucial tackles in the end, we would have won,” he added.

On the argument with the referee

Head coach Krishan Hooda explained why he argued with the referee over a decision.

He said, “I never argue with the referee, but a linesman is doing his job. Either he isn’t properly trained, or if he is, then why change the decision after the raid when he already gave the raider out? The raider came back and didn’t even try for more points, so whose responsibility is that?

“Either tell the linesman not to give it out in the first place, or take a review. But if the referee changes the decision on their own, then what’s the point of having a linesman? I have no personal issue with the referees; they’re doing a good job, but sometimes they need to be clearer,” he added.
