PKL 12: List of all covers of each team for Pro Kabaddi 2025

UP Yoddhas, U Mumba and Telugu Titans retained their previous cover combinations for PKL 12.
Pro Kabaddi League season 12 (PKL 12) got off to a mega start with the blockbuster auction. The auction, which concluded on June 1, was the biggest of all seasons. Ten players were sold over a crore for the first time, and many other players were rewarded phenomenally for their performances in the previous seasons.
Raiders contribute a major amount of points in a match, but the defenders are the ones who are responsible for creating discipline on the court. If the defence isn’t disciplined enough, a team can leak enough points to lose the contest.
There are multiple types of defenders. The corner defenders are responsible for initiating tackles and controlling the movement of the raider. Whereas the cover defenders act as the link in the chain of defenders. They often initiate the chain tackles and are also crucial in masking the main raiders of their team during defence.
On that note, let us have a look at the cover duo for each team for PKL 12.
1. Bengal Warriorz- Mayur Kadam and Manjeet Choudary
Bengal Warriorz have tactically reclaimed both their cover defenders for the upcoming PKL 12. The right cover, Mayur Kadam, had a decent PKL 11 and scored 33 tackle points in 17 matches, including 2 High-5s.
On the other hand, Manjeet Choudary got opportunities in the latter part of the previous season. Choudary was able to impress the management enough with his all-around performance to join the team again. He scored 16 tackle points, including 1 High-5, and raid points in 9 matches.
2. Bengaluru Bulls- Sanjay Dhull and Manish Dhull
Bengaluru Bulls have created a stellar defending unit going into the PKL 12. They have got two brilliant corners, Yogesh Dahiya and Ankush Rathee. Whereas strengthening their covers, the Bulls have clinched Sanjay Dhull, who was a part of the defending champion, Haryana Steelers team. Sanjay plays at the right cover and scored 57 tackle points in 24 matches, including 2 High-5s.
For the left cover, they have bought Manish Dhull. Manish didn’t play in season 11. However, he was a part of the Pro Kabaddi earlier. He has 20 tackle points in 29 matches. It will be a golden opportunity for him to be a part of a brilliant defensive unit and make the most of it.
3. Dabang Delhi- Surjeet Singh and Arkam Shaikh
Despite having an inexperienced defence in season 11, Dabang Delhi aced their defence in PKL 12. As a result, they reached the playoffs and were strong throughout the season. For season 12, the Dabangs have added a handful of experienced defenders to their squad. Surjeet Singh will play at the right cover for Delhi. Singh scored 39 tackle points in 23 matches.
On the other side, Arkam Shaikh will hold the left cover position. Shaikh was a part of the runners-up, Patna Pirates, in season 11. He scored 16 tackle points in 16 matches. Shaikh will be looking for a better season working alongside the experienced Surjeet Singh for Dabang Delhi.
4. Gujarat Giants- Milad Jabbari and Shubham Kumar
On one hand, the Gujarat Giants have spent a fortune on acquiring the MVP of PKL 11, Mohammadreza Shadloui and retained Himanshu for their corner positions in PKL 12. The Giants have two players who didn’t have any impact in the previous season. As their right cover, they have appointed the Iranian defender, Milad Jabbari, who played 3 matches in the PKL 11 as a substitute and scored no points. However, Jabbari scored 33 tackle points in season 10, including 2 High-5s and 7 super tackles.
For the left cover, the Gujarat Giants have appointed Shubham Kumar, who last featured in season 9 for UP Yoddhas. After a gap of 2 seasons, Kumar will be featuring in the Pro Kabaddi 2025. In his PKL career, Shubham has scored 37 tackle points in 32 matches.
5. Haryana Steelers- Jaideep Dahiya and Manikandan N
The defending champions, Haryana Steelers, have let go of their star player Mohammadreza Shadloui and right cover, Sanjay Dhull, for the upcoming PKL 12. However, the left cover of the Steelers will be held by the season 11 captain, Jaideep Dahiya. Dahiya scored 39 tackle points, including 1 High-5 in 21 matches.
On the other hand, they have re-acquired Manikandan N, who played 5 matches for the Steelers. He initiated just 6 tackles in the previous season and scored 1 point. It will be a crucial season for him, and he will be looking forward to making it count.
6. Jaipur Pink Panthers- Reza Mirbagheri and Mohit
Jaipur Pink Panthers have re-created their defensive structure for the upcoming season. The only common name from the previous season will be Reza Mirbagheri. The left cover, Mirbagheri, scored 58 tackle points in 23 matches and was one of the most important assets of their defence.
Mohit has also joined the Pink Panthers for the upcoming season. Mohit played for the Gujarat Giants in PKL 11 and scored 20 tackle points in 15 matches. With the new defending unit, the Panther will be counting on Mohit for a good performance.
7. Patna Pirates- Deepak Singh and Sanket Sawant
The runners-up of PKL 11, Patna Pirates, got Ankit Jaglan via the FBM card to keep their defence solid. Moreover, they retained their crucial defender, Deepak Singh, who scored 64 tackle points, including 4 High-5s, along with 12 raid points in 25 matches.
For the left cover, Patna Pirates have acquired Sanket Sawant, who was a part of the Puneri Paltan squad in PKL 11. Sawant scored 27 tackle points in 21 matches.
8. Puneri Paltan- Abinesh Nadarajan and Gurdeep
Season 10 winners, Puneri Paltan, have strengthened their defence yet again for the upcoming season. With Gaurav Khatri and experienced Vishal Bahrdwaj in corners, Paltan have Abinesh Nadarajan and Gurdeep in their covers. Nadarajan was retained by Puneri Paltan. He scored 37 tackle points and 7 raid points in PKL 11.
On the other hand, Paltan also roped in Gurdeep, who scored 33 tackle points in PKL 11. This is a good addition to the team, and it is going to be a strong defensive unit going into season 12 for the Paltan.
9. Tamil Thalaivas- Aashish Umed and Ronak
After a disappointing season, Tamil Thalaivas will be looking for a comeback in PKL 12. They have gone back to their previous covers for the upcoming season as well. Aashish Umed will be their left cover, who scored 22 tackle points, including 1 High-5.
Ronak will be holding the right cover for the Thalaivas. He featured in 10 matches in season 11 and scored 9 tackle points.
10. Telugu Titans- Sagar Sethpal and Ajit Pawar
Telugu Titans will also be going into the upcoming season with the same cover defenders. Sagar Sethpal had a good debut season and will be looking for another strong one. Sethpal scored 41 tackle points in 22 matches and was one of the finds for the Titans in season 11.
Ajit Pawar will hold the left cover for the Titans. Pawar scored 34 tackle points in 22 matches in season 11. Telugu Titans’ bet will be on these two once again for the upcoming season, and they must be looking for a better performance.
11. U Mumba- Sunil Kumar and Parvesh Bhainswal
U Mumba have kept their experienced combination intact once again in PKL 12. U Mumba has got one of the best cover combinations in the Pro Kabaddi League. U Mumba’s captain, Sunil Kumar, will be holding the right cover. Kumar scored 54 tackle points in 23 matches in the previous season.
On the other hand, Parvesh Bhainswal will be at the left cover. In PKL 11, Bhainswal scored 38 tackle points in 23 matches.
12. UP Yoddhas- Ashu Singh and Mahender Singh
UP Yoddhas are another team that has retained the two covers from the previous season. Yoddhas had a strong defence last season, and will be keeping it the same way. For the Yoddhas, Ashu Singh will be at the right cover. Ashu scored 37 tackle points in 23 matches.
Mahender Singh will be holding the left cover for the Yoddhas. In PKL 11, Singh scored 28 tackle points in 21 matches.
The defence line-up looks strong for all the teams in the upcoming season. The Pro Kabaddi League season 12 might be the best in PKL history. It will be interesting to see how it will turn up for the two months of kabaddi action.
