PKL 12: List of players released, retained by Patna Pirates ahead of auction

The runner-ups have released their best raider, Devank Dalal, ahead of the PKL 12 auction.

Patna Pirates missed out on their fourth PKL title by a narrow margin in the previous season. The PKL 11 runners-up had an inexperienced but strong squad that challenged the big teams throughout the season. With the newly appointed head coach and Kabaddi legend Anup Kumar, Patna Pirates will look to add another trophy to their cabinet.

Patna Pirates showed resilience and played astoundingly to reach the playoffs with a comparatively young team. They finished fourth in the league stage and dominated in the playoffs to reach the final. However, they were defeated by the Steelers 32-23 in the Pro Kabaddi League season 11 final.

The Pirates had a pretty balanced side with two front raiders, Devank Dalal and Ayan Lohchab, who played their part incredibly. Interestingly, the team management has released their key raider, Devank Dalal, who was last season’s best raider with 301 raid points. Here’s the list of players released and retained by Patna Pirates ahead of the PKL season 12 auction.

List of retained players:

Elite Retained Players: Hamid Mirzaei Nader, Thiyagarajan Yuvaraj

Retained Young Players: Sudhakar M

Existing New Young Player: Ayan Lohchab, Navdeep, Deepak, Sahil Patil

List of released players:

Ankit, Devank Dalal, Sandeep, Shubham Shinde, Gurdeep, Parvinder, Kunal Mehta, Jang Kun Lee, Babu M, Sagar, Meetu, Deepak Jaglan, Aman, Arkam Sheikh.

Patna Pirates have released 14 players and retained 7 from their previous squad. The Pirates’ team management will have to do a lot in the upcoming auction to build a strong team. Although they have kept a few key players from last season’s squad, they would want to add much more density to their team. They have voids to fill in the raiding and the defence department.

It will be interesting to see how they act on the auction days to clinch important players for their squad. The auction will take place on May 31 and June 1.
