U Mumba is looking to rebuild their defence at the PKL 12 auction.

U Mumba performed admirably in the Pro Kabaddi League‘s eleventh edition. They lost to the Patna Pirates in the playoffs, ending their campaign in fifth place in the standings. Ajit Chouhan was the team’s top player, while Sunil Kumar led them admirably the previous season.

Ajit did not get the support of the other raiders last season, as the performance of the others was quite inconsistent. This year, Ajit will expect better support from the raiding department. They have retained their core squad for the upcoming season. Ajit Chouhan, Sunil Kumar, Amir Zafardanesh, and Rohit Raghav have been retained. U Mumba have released their 2nd best defender, Rinku Sharma and will be looking for a suitable replacement.

They need to acquire a reliable left cover and right corner and add quality backup defenders. With Parvesh Bhainswal also released after an average performance last season, the team will be looking to rebuild their defensive unit. They would look for a reliable backup raider who can support Ajit Chouhan in the raiding department, in case Zafardanesh is not in form.

Let’s look at the players that Jaipur can target in the PKL 12 auction.

3. Naveen Kumar

Naveen Kumar will now be in the auction after being part of Dabang Delhi for six years in a row. As the Delhi team’s MVP, Naveen was instrumental in the team’s first-ever championship victory in season 8. Despite current injury worries.

He may be one of the auction’s greatest finds if he can get back into shape and be fit again. Additionally, he can win a match by himself. Since U Mumba lacked consistency in the raiding department they will be looking to target Naveen to improve their raiding depth.

2. Yogesh Dahiya

Yogesh Dahiya had a tremendous season in PKL 11, finishing 4th among the top 5 defenders of the season. Playing for Dabang Delhi, he was the backbone in the defence, often carrying the defence single-handedly. As a right corner specialist, Yogesh would be an ideal replacement for Rinku Sharma, who U Mumba has released.

His addition would bring both depth and versatility to U Mumba’s defence. With Captain Sunil Kumar at right cover, Yogesh can easily fit into the right corner and help build a strong defence. He registered 75 tackle points in 22 matches, and was one of the key reasons behind Delhi’s strong performance in Season 11.

1. Parvesh Bhaiswal

Parvesh Bhainswal was released by U Mumba following an average performance last season, where he managed 38 tackle points in 23 matches as a left cover. However, U Mumba can still bring him back using the Final Bid Match (FBM) card.

Despite a dip in form, Parvesh remains one of the best left covers available in the auction pool, which makes him a strong contender to be picked early. If he regains his form, the duo of Sunil Kumar and Parvesh Bhainswal could become a lethal combination in defence, which could seriously trouble opposition raiders.
