PKL 12: Three players Tamil Thalaivas should target in auction

Tamil Thalaivas retained 3 elite players ahead of the PKL 12 auction.

Tamil Thalaivas clinched the 9th position in the previous Pro Kabaddi League season. Despite having big names like Sachin Tanwar, Narender Kandola on the team, Thalaivas’ raiding department was way below par. They had a mere 34% successful raids, which was a massive concern for them. Other than that, their defensive performance was also nothing more than average.

Going into the next season, the Tamil Thalaivas have made a few good retentions and have started the preparations with the right strategy. Sanjeev Baliyan has been appointed as the new coach for Tamil Thalaivas, and being a successful PKL coach, he will be a new torchbearer for the franchise.

They have retained 3 Elite Players (Moein Shafaghi, Himanshu, and Sagar Rathee), 5 Retained Young Players (Nitesh Kumar, Narender Kandola, Ronak, Vishal Chahal, and Aashish), and 2 Existing New Young Players (Anuj Gawde and Dhiraj Bailmare).

They have retained a nice bunch of players who were extremely valuable for the team in the previous season. Other than these, they now need a few more reliable players who can provide the flexibility and depth to their bench. Here are the three players that Tamil Thalaivas should go after in the upcoming PKL 12 auction.

3. Ankush Rathee

Ankush Rathee had a phenomenal season 11. He was the lead defender of the Jaipur Pink Panthers, with 68 tackle points in his name.

He held the right corner stunningly and created opportunities for his team throughout the season. As Sanjeev Baliyan, the ex-Jaipur Pink Panthers’ coach, has joined the Thalaivas, he must be looking to get the player who made his work more effective in the last season.

2. Naveen Kumar

Tamil Thalaivas lacked an experienced raider in the last season. They would not want to repeat that mistake. Naveen Kumar has the experience and the sharpness Tamil Thalaivas would require. He had been suffering from a few injuries over the past couple of seasons and had a below-average last season.

However, his stature and his records speak for themselves. He has over 1100 raid points in 109 matches. Kumar’s inclusion in the team will be beneficial for the team.

1. Arjun Deshwal

Arjun Deshwal was Sanjeev Baliyan’s go-to raider in the previous season for the Pink Panthers. Moreover, he was among the top-3 raiders in season 11. Deshwal scored 227 raid points in the last season and has 1174 raid points in his PKL career of 114 matches.

There is no doubt he would want to get his main raider into his new franchise and continue that working partnership. Moreover, his addition to the team will make the raiding department of the squad extremely strong.

The team management can also go after more defenders like Fazel Atrachali, Surjeet Singh, Mayur Kadam, Parteek or use the FBM card to retain Amirhossein Bastami or Abhish Manokaran.
