PKL 12 Road to Final Scenario; 8 teams collide for trophy

The final of PKL 12 is on October 31.

The league stage of Pro Kabaddi League 12 (PKL 12) has concluded, and all eight teams for the next round have been confirmed. The knockout stage will begin on October 25.

According to the new rules of PKL, eight teams will have the opportunity to compete for the trophy. The top four teams will directly enter the playoffs, while the remaining four will battle it out in the play-ins to secure their spot in the playoffs.

The dynamics of the knockout stage are a bit complex. The top four teams will have an added advantage; they’ll get an extra chance even if they lose their qualifier or mini-qualifier matches.

On the other hand, the remaining four teams will have to treat every match as a do-or-die battle, with no second chances. On that note, let’s simplify and understand how the dynamics of the next round of PKL 12 will work.

Road to the Final of PKL 12-

The Play-ins

Play-In 1: Haryana Steelers lost to Jaipur Pink Panthers (27-30)

Play-In 2: U Mumba lost to Patna Pirates (31-40)

Jaipur Pink Panthers and Patna Pirates will advance to the playoffs and face each other in Eliminator 1. The losing teams, Haryana Steelers and U Mumba, are eliminated from the race for the trophy.

Patna Pirates will advance to Eliminator 2 and face the loser of the Mini Qualifier. The losing team will be eliminated from the race and will no longer have a chance to compete for the PKL 12 trophy.

Mini Qualifier

Mini-Qualifier: Bengaluru Bulls lost to Telugu Titans (32-37)

Eliminator 2

Eliminator 2: Patna Pirates beat Bengaluru Bulls (46-37)

The winner of Eliminator 1 will play against the loser of the Mini Qualifier in Eliminator 2 to earn a spot in Eliminator 3, where they will face the winner of the Mini Qualifier. The losing team, however, will be eliminated from the race for the trophy.

Eliminator 3

Eliminator 3: Telugu Titans beat Patna Pirates (46-39)

The winner of this clash will advance to Qualifier 2, where they will face the loser of Qualifier 1 for a spot in the final. The losing team, however, will be eliminated and sent home.

Qualifier 1

Qualifier 1: Puneri Paltan lost to Dabang Delhi (34-34) – (4-6) Tie-breaker

The top two teams from the league stage will clash in Qualifier 1 for a direct spot in the final. The losing team, however, will get another chance and play in Qualifier 2 against the winner of Eliminator 3.

Qualifier 2

Qualifier 2: Puneri Paltan beat Telugu Titans (50-45)

The team that loses Qualifier 1 will receive a second chance by playing against the winner of Eliminator 3 in Qualifier 2. The winner of this match will advance to the final to face the winner of Qualifier 1, and the losing team will be eliminated.
