PKL 12: Pawan Sehrawat gives major update on Sagar Rathee after their loss against U Mumba

U Mumba won their second consecutive match in PKL 12.

Season 2 champions U Mumba maintained their perfect start intact with a solid win over the Tamil Thalaivas in the fifth match of the ongoing Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12). Ajit Chouhan led the line for his side and recorded nine points, while all-rounder Anil added eight points to their tally.

Lokesh Ghosliya and Rinku were solid at the back and added eight points in total. Arjun Deshwal and Pawan Sehrawat combined for 19 points, but couldn’t avoid defeat for their side.

After the game, U Mumba‘s head coach and captain, as well as the Tamil Thalaivas assistant coach and captain, addressed the media.

U Mumba’s head coach on the turning point

Anil Chaprana shared his views about the turning point in the match and said, “The turning point was when we caught Pawan, and two of our players were saved. So our boys got more excited, and then our raider got the points. Then we took the match into our hands.”

Message to the players

The skipper was asked about what his message was to the players when the game was drifting away. He said, “Both kabaddi and wrestling are games that need a lot of courage. If you don’t have courage, you can’t play kabaddi or wrestling. We have always thought of fighting till the last second with courage. We did not give up, and that is what happened today. If we look at the turning point, our raiders, Ajit, Anil, and Satish, also did well. So our raiders were the turning point today, and Lokesh played very well in defense.”

Thoughts on Haryana Steelers

Sunil Kumar shared his views on the Haryana Steelers. He praised the players and said, “Haryana is a good team. They won last season. They have good raiders in Vinay and (Shivam) Patare, and now (Naveen) Express has also come in, so all three of the raiders are very good, and the defence is also strong with Jaideep, Rahul Sethpal. So their team is good. We will come up with a plan on that as well and will try not to give them the lead because. We will come with planning and watch their match today.”

What went wrong with Tamil Thalaivas?

Pawan Sehrawat expressed his views on what went wrong and said that the momentum shift cost his side the game. “The match is 40 minutes, then we have to play for 40 minutes seriously. We have to play tight. We played tight for 30 minutes, and then in the final 10 minutes, it was like we would win easily.

“So their raiders took the points, and the match turned right there. Any team can become strong when such momentum is gained. The day before yesterday, we had the same match with them. They had a lead, but it was the same, that scenario, the game goes on like this,” he added.

Pawan Sehrawat on Sagar Rathee

“Sagar Rathee is fit, but the management will decide when Sagar will play. We want Sagar in the team, but when he will play depends on the management.”

Thoughts ahead of the next game

Tamil Thalaivas’ assistant coach D Suresh Kumar shared his views ahead of the next game against Gujarat Giants and said, “Right now we have played two matches, one win and one defeat. Whatever happened in the game, let’s fix it and win the next match. We have four days of rest, we will practice a little better and come back with a complete plan to win against Gujarat,” he signed off.
