PKL 12: UP Yoddhas announce captain & vice-captain for Pro Kabaddi 2025

UP Yoddhas have stood with their former captain for PKL 12.

Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12) is all set to ignite the excitement among the kabaddi enthusiasts once again as it takes off on the last Friday of the month, August 29, 2025. After a six-year gap, Vizag will host PKL once again, with the first leg scheduled to be organised there.

In the PKL 12 auction, the franchises constructed strong squads and have begun announcing their leaders for the season as the commencement date nears. Earlier today, UP Yoddhas announced their captain and vice-captain for the upcoming season through their social media handles.

UP Yoddhas were one of the most successful teams from the previous season. The franchise decided to stick to its used formulas and has conserved most of its squad from season 11. Likewise, UP have expressed confidence in their old captain who led them in most of PKL 11.

Yoddhas have handed over the responsibility of leading the team in season 12 to Sumit Sangwan, along with Ashu Singh, another solid defender, as the vice-captain. Let’s take a look at the PKL stats of Sumit Sangwan and Ashu Singh.

Sumit Sangwan

Sumit Sangwan plays at the left corner, which is one of the crucial positions as far as defence is concerned. Sangwan has been an integral part of the Yoddhas since the beginning of his PKL career and has achieved great results.

The UP Yoddhas’ captain has over 300 tackle points in 112 matches, including 24 High 5s, and is in stellar form as well.

Ashu Singh

Ashu Singh will be the vice-captain of the team in season 12. He debuted alongside Sangwan and has been equally impressive throughout his PKL career.

He plays on the right cover and has a stunning record. We have seen the combination of the right cover and left corner claiming wins for the Yoddhas. Now is the time when we see their partnership as the leaders of the group. Singh has scored 196 tackle points in 110 matches, including 5 High 5s.

UP Yoddhas will start their PKL 12 journey on August 30 against Telugu Titans and will play their last league match against U Mumba on October 23.
