PKL 12: Coach Krishan Hooda credits NYPs for Telugu Titans' good performance in Pro Kabaddi 2025

Telugu Titans registered their seventh win in PKL 12 by defeating UP Yoddhas.

Telugu Titans secured their fourth consecutive win in Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12) and edged past the UP Yoddhas with a dominant performance.

Bharat Hooda emerged as the messiah for the Titans and managed to rack up 14 points while skipper Vijay Malik and talismanic defender Shubham Shinde scored nine and five points, respectively. Gagan Gowda scored 16 points for the Yoddhas, but couldn’t take them over the line.

After the match, representatives from both teams addressed the media.

Thoughts on the game

UP Yoddhas assistant coach Upendra Malik shared his views on the game and said, “Mistakes were made in the beginning, and yet they were compensated for.”

“The team made a good comeback in the second half, but we couldn’t execute in the crucial moments, especially when we couldn’t tackle Bharat Hooda and Prafull. We gave away two to three points, and no team can win like that. We had to finish there, but we couldn’t do it at all,” he added.

Thoughts on the match against Patna Pirates

Malik also spoke about the Patna Pirates ahead of their next game and said, “Randeep Dalal has been with me and we know each other too. He knows how we play, and we know how he plays. Players are the same, but there may be some changes. We’ll come prepared for that. But we’ll come prepared with a good plan.”

Thoughts on the win

Krishan Kumar Hooda expressed his thoughts on his side’s win and said, “The team played very well. Minor mistakes happen in matches, and I don’t blame them. We played the match exactly as we had planned. Bharat and Vijay played such a good match. We will improve the mistakes. The players made super tackles in difficult situations, and this suggests that the team is gaining some strength for the future.”

Krishan Hooda on NYPs

Telugu Titans head coach shares his thoughts on the youngster’s performance. He stated, “Look, when the young players come into the team, that affects the senior players as well.”

“Players like Vijay and Bharat get along with them and don’t put any burden on them. Even when I get angry at the young players, our senior players love them a lot. We are playing three or four NYPs, and they are giving us good results. When the young players step up, the whole team benefits,” he added.

Krishan Hooda on Vijay Malik’s leadership style

Krishan Hooda also highlighted Vijay Malik’s leadership style and its positive impact on the team. He said, “We have a good captain who controls the game. The most important thing is that he does not say anything even after someone makes a mistake. That’s a good thing. The atmosphere within the camp is good. Every player is happy. If the players are happy, the performance will come automatically.”

Bharat Hooda on reaching 700 points

Bharat Hooda reached 700 points in the game against the UP Yoddhas. He spoke about the same and said, “The atmosphere is good, and the team keeps winning, points keep coming like this. I get the benefit, but if the team wins, it benefits everyone. I will dedicate today’s win to the fans for their support. Our fans love us so much. Please keep supporting us. We will continue to do well. Thank you.”
