The Pro Kabaddi League will return for its historic 12th season, and the first leg of the PKL 12 will begin at the coastal city of Visakhapatnam. Kabaddi has always been synonymous with Indians, as it is played in every Indian state. But PKL has taken its journey to the next level.

The city/state-based franchises give the foundation for the teams to build on their fan bases. Some players, with their performances, have become the icons of the league. In a sport like Kabaddi, very few have displayed longevity, and season 12 will see a few veterans competing to show their mettle.

Maninder Singh is the oldest player of PKL 12

Patna Pirates have been the most successful team in PKL history. They tend to unearth youngsters and capitalise on experienced players.

The success of young players like Pardeep Narwal, Sandeep Narwal, and Devank Dalal is well-documented, but the team has also utilised experienced players.

Players like Rakesh Kumar and Dharmaraj Cheralathan have played a key role in Patna’s success, and in Season 12, two-time PKL champion Maninder Singh will be seen wearing the Pirates jersey.

The 35-year-old is the oldest player of the upcoming season, and the Mighty Mani will bring all his experience to help the Pirates lift their fourth PKL title.

Maninder is the only player with 1000+ successful raids

Maninder Singh is the only active player to have played the inaugural edition. The right raider is known for his consistency, which has lasted over a decade. Mighty Mani’s ability to keep his energy high throughout 40 minutes makes him a threat at any stage of the game.

Apart from Maninder, the Pirates have a young raiding unit. Ayan Lohchab and Sudhakar have had an impressive last season.

The three-time champions would be relying on Maninder to lead the offensive unit. The strongly built raider would be happy to lead the youngsters like he did with Bengal Warriorz, when he led them to a trophy in season seven.
