Singh can solve the defending problem of the Telugu Titans in the upcoming season.

Telugu Titans, who had a horrible season last time, were in search of a top defender and they got it in the form of Surjeet Singh. They bought Surjeet for a whopping ₹50 lakhs by beating Gujarat Giants in the auction. There was an ultimate battle going on between the two franchises, and the Telugu Titans won that encounter.

Surjeet Singh, who played the last season of the PKL for the Tamil Thalaivas, has just moved to their neighbours, Telugu Titans. He played well in the last season, although his team stood second last on the points table. Surjeet is once again with the team who had a forgettable last outing, but taking them out of this situation is what he has to do now. If he can take the Titans way above on the table, he might be the next big thing in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League.

Performance by number

With two High 5s and four super tackles, Surjeet showed that his defending skills can’t be ignored. He earned 57 tackle points with a tackle strike rate of 49%. His performance as a captain in Season 7 was even better as he scored 65 Tackle Points with a tackle strike rate of 51%. Now, he would like to repeat his performance in the upcoming season for the Titans. In the past, Surjeet Singh had played for Puneri Paltans in two seasons and also captained the squad in Season 7.

Though Puneri Paltans’ performance was below average in Season 7, the door of captaincy is still open for this experienced player. But only time will tell whether he is going to lead the squad or not. All eyes would be on him if he could take the Titans out of the bad phase.

In the auction, there were some excellent picks by the franchises, such as Fazal Atrachali for 1.38 crores and Mohammed Esmaeil Nabibakhsh for 87 lakhs. They both went to Puneri Paltans. Pardeep Narwal, who was everyone’s favourite in the auction, went back to UP Yoddhas with the option of a Final Bid Match (FBM).
