Ravi Shetty has been named head coach of the Patna Pirates for the upcoming season.

Patna Pirates have appointed the experienced Ravi Shetty as their head coach for Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 9. Ravi Shetty has over 20 years of experience in coaching and has been the coach of U Mumba, Jaipur Pink Panthers and Puneri Paltans in the past. He was the head coach of U Mumba when Anup Kumar led side won the title. Ravi also successfully took Puneri Paltans into the playoffs. Now, the experienced coach would like to help the Patna Pirates win another title.

On becoming Patna Pirates Coach

Since Ravi has ample experience in coaching, he would want to help Patna Pirates win their fourth title. He said, "I have been into coaching since Season 1, and I did a good job in the first two seasons as a head coach. Then I became an assistant coach and got enough experience there as well. I will put all my experience into this season and try to make the Patna Pirates champions again."

Auction strategy of the Pirates

The successful franchise Patna Pirates bought some great young players at auction. They had already retained their core team before the auction. On this, Ravi said, "We already retained our four main defenders before the auction. Adding Sachin Tanwar to the squad is a big boost for the squad. Rohit Gulia is also a great pick for us. The duo of Sachin and Rohit could be good for us as one is a left raider while the other one is a right raider."

Patna Pirates’ good show even without Pardeep Narwal

Patna Pirates released Pardeep Narwal in the past, and without their main raider, it looked like the Pirates wouldn’t be able to perform, but the team reached the finals in the previous edition. Ravi said, "When a team doesn’t have any big players, then you must make others capable of performing at a high level. The team reached the finals in the previous edition without Pardeep, but this time, I will make sure to lift the title if the team reaches the finals."

Picking Sukesh Hegde after the auction

Sukesh Hegde became part of the team after the auction. On his inclusion, Ravi said, "It’s very important to have a senior player in the squad with whom you can communicate about the game in a better way. Therefore, I went for Sukesh."
