PKL 9: Telugu Titans retained Ankit Beniwal and four others
The Titans had a terrible Season 8 with just one victory out of 22 games.
The popular Pro Kabaddi League franchise Telugu Titans have retained raiders Ankit Beniwal and Rajnish in the retained young player category. They have also decided to keep Muhammed Shihas, Prince D and Palla Ramakrishna as their defenders for Season 9. All three defenders are from the new young player category. Let’s take a look at the Season 8 performances of all these five players retained:
Ankit Beniwal
Though the Telugu Titans had a forgettable last season, the performance of Ankit Beniwal proved to be one of their positives. Beniwal earned four Super 10s in the last edition of the PKL. He also managed to earn three Super Raids as well, which could be the primary reason for his retention. By being a core raider, he helped his team gain some tackle points too. The Titans will be looking to make a strong comeback this season.
Rajnish
Rajnish individually had a fair last season with 106 raid points out of 190 total raids with a strike rate of 54.35%. In his 13 matches, he had three Super Raids and six Super 10s in the last edition. Rajnish would look to continue his good performance in the upcoming season of the PKL.
Muhammed Shihas
Muhammed Shihas played in just eight matches for Telugu Titans in Season 8 and earned 14 tackle points. Shihas has been retained in the category of new young Indian player and if he can make this season count with his skills, who knows, Telugu Titans could do wonders this time.
Prince D
Another defender, Prince D, was retained by Telugu Titans before the auction. He played in 14 matches last season and earned 12 tackle points with an average success assists of 12%. He would also look to improve his performance in the upcoming season so that the Titans could make this season count.
Palla Ramakrishna
Though Palla Ramakrishna played in just one game throughout the season, the Titans must have thought something about the young player before retaining him. He earned just tackle point in his single game but would surely do better in the future games to make his team win on numerous occasions.
