On the other hand, he attempted two tackles and was unsuccessful on both occasions.

The combined efforts from the Pune-based franchise’s raiders and defenders saw the team occupy the top spot in the PKL 12 standings with four points from two games, having won both matches they’ve played thus far. The former champions will next face Bengal Warriorz on Wednesday, September 3.

Meanwhile, the Gujarat Giants are placed at the bottom of the points table, having suffered losses in both encounters so far in PKL 12. They began their campaign with a loss against U Mumba on a tie-breaker after the regular time score read 29-29.

The Mohammadreza Shadloui-led side will lock horns with the Tamil Thalaivas in their upcoming PKL encounter. This will be the 18th match of the season hosted at the Vishwanadh Sports Club in Vizag.

The Iranian player attempted six tackles on the Pink Panthers’ raiders, but failed on all six occasions. With a poor outing, this was the first time Shadloui returned with zero points in the Pro Kabaddi League.

He finished the season with 94 points (89 tackle points and 5 raid points) from 24 matches. The Pirates were the runner-up in PKL 2022, having lost to Dabang Delhi with a close-fought margin of 36-37 in the final.
