These players were the mainstays for their respective teams in the league.

The Pro Kabaddi League Season 8 recently concluded with Dabang Delhi emerging as champions for the first time in their history. They defeated three-time winners Patna Pirates 37-36 in the finals, to finally lift the precious title.

It was a long and competitive season. Despite the fact that the Pirates looked certain to end up at the top of the table well before the league stages were over, the competition for the other playoffs places went to the wire. In the end, it was UP Yoddha, Gujarat Giants, Bengaluru Bulls and Puneri Paltan who made it to the playoffs, along with Patna and Delhi.

Here is a look at the top five raiders of the recently concluded edition of the Pro Kabaddi League.

5. Surender Gill (189 points)

First up we have UP Yoddha raider Surender Gill. Surender put up a much improved performance in this season compared to last. He collected 189 points for UP Yoddha this season, which is a huge increase from his 80 points in the last campaign. The raider put up a dominant display this time out, scoring an average of 8.22 raid points per match. He also had eight Super 10s to his name this season.

Surender’s performances helped his team reach the semi-finals. However, UP Yoddha lost the semi-final bout against Patna Pirates, in which Surender’s contribution was below-par.

4. Naveen Kumar (207 points)

Naveen was Dabang Delhi’s main man this season and one of the most important reasons behind their Pro Kabaddi League Season 8 title triumph. The raider continued his brilliant form from last term.

Naveen notched 207 raid points to his name this season and had an average of 12.18 raid points per match. He also has 12 Super 10s, one of which was earned in the final against Patna Pirates.

3. Maninder Singh (262 points)

Another year and another season of dominance by Maninder Singh. The Bengal Warriors raider had an even better season then he had in their title-winning run the last time out. Maninder earned a total of 262 raid points in Pro Kabaddi League Season 8. The raider had an average of 11.91 raid points per match and 16 Super 10s to his name.

However, while he carried on his form from last season, his team unfortunately were not able to do so. Bengal Warriors, the champions of last season, finished ninth and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

2. Arjun Deshwal (304 points)

Deshwal is another player who showed tremendous improvement this season. Arjun scored more than double the points that he managed to score last season for U Mumba. Recruited by Jaipur Pink Panthers, the raider managed a total of 267 raid points for his team, with an average of 12.14 raid points per match. Arjun Deshwal also has 16 Super 10s to his name.

Despite the raider’s best efforts, Jaipur Pink Panthers finished eighth in the league stages and missed out on the playoffs by three points.

1. Pawan Sehrawat (Bengaluru Bulls)

The raider with the most raid points this season was Bengaluru Bulls’ Pawan Sehrawat. He had a wonderful time last season and carried his form into this campaign as well. The 26-year-old accumulated 304 raid points throughout the season, with an average of 12.67 raid points per match. He also has 18 Super 10s and six super tackles to his name.

Riding on Pawan Sehrawat’s brilliant performances, Bengaluru Bulls managed to reach the semi-finals this season, where they lost to eventual champions Dabang Delhi. In the semi-final, Pawan put up a valiant effort, as he managed to earn 18 points. However, that was not enough to see the Bulls through.
