PKL 11: Three reasons why Patna Pirates can win Pro Kabaddi 2024
Patna Pirates finished fourth in the PKL 11 points table.
Pro Kabaddi 2024 (PKL 11) final is set to be a thrilling showdown as the Haryana Steelers take on the Patna Pirates on Sunday, December 29, at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune. Both teams have fought tooth and nail to earn their spot in this much-anticipated clash.
The Patna Pirates delivered a composed performance to defeat Dabang Delhi K.C. 32-28 in the semi-final. Devank and Ayan spearheaded the attack, while Shubham Shinde’s High-5 and Ankit’s crucial tackles proved instrumental. Even when Delhi managed to level the scores late in the game, the Pirates held their nerve, with Ayan’s decisive raid sealing their place in the PKL 11 final.
On that note, let’s look at the top three reasons why Patna Pirates can win Pro Kabaddi 2024.

Strong raiding unit & great combination
Pirates possess the best raiding unit in the league in form of Devank and Ayan Lohchab. They have been firing on all cylinders and have shown multiple eye-catching moments across all the legs. Devank has been the story of the season having exceeded everyone’s expectations and emerging as the X factor for the three-time champions.
The young raider has racked up 194 raid points already and is leading the charts for the most number of raid points. Standing alongside Devank is his partner in crime, Ayan Lohchab who has played the role of a support raider with more than perfection. With 121 raid points, Ayan has scored more points than some of the main raiders of other teams and can take the Pirates all the way yet again.
Perfect coordination between defenders
While Patna Pirates have a superb attacking unit, their defence is no less either. Pirates have assembled a good combination of players. The likes of Shubham Shinde, Ankit Jaglan, and Deepak Singh have stood up to the occasion and have taken matters into their own hands and formed one of the strongest backlines in the league.
Pirates have racked up 159 tackle points, the sixth-highest in the league this season. Skipper Ankit Jaglan is leading the way as the highest-scoring defender with 47 tackle points followed by right cover Deepak Singh who has put together 40 tackle points as of now. Shubham Shinde is not far behind having secured 32 tackle points in 14 matches.
Team chemistry
The main reason behind Patna Pirates’ success this season has been phenomenal team chemistry. Many pundits and experts highlighted the absence of big names in their squad before the start of the season, but they came out on top against all odds, thanks to the understanding and cohesion between the players.
The players are very like-minded and have stepped in for each other as and when required. Everyone knows what they need to do and role clarity has played a big part in developing their purple patch. The players have clicked in perfectly together and have worked like a unit, something a lot of teams are missing this season.
