Dabang Delhi bought Siddharth Desai in the PKL 11 auction.

Just before the Pro Kabaddi League Season 11 (PKL 11), Dabang Delhi K.C. have suffered a big blow. The team revealed that their recent recruit Siddharth Desai won’t be part of the tournament due to personal reasons

Announcing the news on social media Dabang Delhi wrote, “We are sad to announce that our Bahubali, Siddharth Desai, has been ruled out of PKL 11 due to personal reasons. Wishing him all the best!”

Desai, who is referred to as the “Bahubali” for his brute playing style, has been one of the best-performing raiders in PKL after making a debut in the league with Season 6. He grabbed 218 raid points in his debut PKL season and scored at an average of 10.38 per game, while also recording as many as a dozen super-10s.

The 6’3″ raider carried his form forward in season 7 as well, scoring a staggering total of points (217) at an average raiding rate of 9.86 points per game. However, his career took a turn for the worse in season 8 when an injury cut short his season just three games after registering 34 raid points.

He had an ordinary season 10 with Haryana Steelers, garnering just 82 raid points in 17 outings. Still, Dabang Delhi KC greenlit the deal to reinforce their raiding department.

After Desai’s shocking exit, the responsibility of leading Delhi Raid will fall on the shoulders of Naveen Kumar and Ashu Malik, who have also been named co-captains of the team for the season.

There has been no announcement of Desai’s replacement from Dabang Delhi. Delhi, the champions of season 8, will now look to sublimate this disappointment and go all the way in the forthcoming event. How they cope with the loss of Siddharth Desai may be one of their key success factors in the current season.

The Pro Kabaddi League has grown in popularity since its inception in 2014. Season 11 is set to begin on 18th October with 12 teams competing for the title.
