Star Kabaddi player announces retirement from PKL

One of the star Kabaddi players from Maharashtra bid adieu to the PKL.
The Pro Kabaddi League has witnessed many warriors rise to glory, athletes who stepped on the mat with nothing but passion, grit, and determination, and went on to become household names.
Among these remarkable players, one star Kabaddi talent from Maharashtra carved a special place in the hearts of fans. Having represented top franchises like Bengal Warriorz, U Mumba, UP Yoddhas, and Jaipur Pink Panthers, his journey was filled with unforgettable raids, crucial performances, and unmatched dedication.
But now, he has officially said goodbye to the league. His retirement has left fans emotional and nostalgic, as they hoped to see more of his fighting spirit.
Shrikant Jadhav retires
Shrikant Jadhav bids adieu to the Pro Kabaddi League. The decision came after the completion of Season 12. He went unsold in the PKL Season 12 auction and therefore did not feature in the latest edition of the league.
His performance had declined in the previous seasons, which led to teams not bidding for him during the auction. Shrikant has represented four teams in the league and has delivered some memorable performances, especially in his prime years.
He was known for his agility, clever raids, and calm presence on the mat. Even though he didn’t find a team in the recent auctions, his contribution to the league and his journey from Maharashtra to the biggest kabaddi stage will always be remembered.
Shrikant’s journey in PKL
Shrikant Jadhav began his Pro Kabaddi League journey in Season 3 with Bengal Warriorz. He didn’t get many opportunities to play in his debut season, featuring in only 5 matches and scoring 10 points.
The same pattern continued in Season 4 as well, where he played just 5 games, mostly as a substitute, and scored only 7 raid points. In season 5, he was picked by U Mumba and finally got enough opportunities to prove himself.
He showcased his skills by scoring 86 raid points and also contributed with 12 tackle points, highlighting his all-round abilities. However, his real breakthrough came with UP Yoddhas.
He was bought by UP in Season 6, and in his first season for them, he performed brilliantly, scoring 141 raid points and helping the team reach the playoffs. In Season 7, he was retained by Yoddhas and once again shone, scoring 148 raid points and becoming one of the team’s key raiders.
He was retained again for Season 8, but due to injury concerns, he couldn’t perform at his best and finished the season with 92 raid points. In Season 9, he returned to Bengal Warriorz after being bought in the auction and played the role of a supporting raider effectively, scoring 123 raid points.
The Warriorz retained him for Season 10, but his performance dipped once again, and he managed only 74 raid points. His final stint came in Season 11 with Jaipur Pink Panthers, where he played 6 games and scored just 11 raid points.
With his form declining over the past few seasons, he eventually went unsold in the Season 12 auction, marking the end of his PKL journey.
