Telugu Titans finished fifth in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 points table (PKL 12). They qualified for the playoffs and got eliminated in Qualifier 2 after losing to Puneri Paltan by just 5 points.
The team, which was once known for finishing at the bottom of the table for several years, has proved everyone wrong in recent seasons. In the last two seasons, they achieved some memorable victories, showing that they are here to compete.
Bharat Hooda emerged as their best raider with 230 raid points in just 21 games, while also giving his best in the playoffs matches. In defence, Ankit Jaglan stood out as their best defender with 52 tackle points.
The team made it to the playoffs for the first time since Season 4 and remained in the news throughout the tournament. The team’s head coach, Krishan Hooda, who had said that he would not disappoint the fans, lived up to his claim and gave them hope that winning the trophy is not far away.
Ahead of the upcoming season, the team will face many challenges, and the biggest challenge is selecting a team that is capable of competing for and winning the trophy. In this series, the Titans have recruited four new young players for PKL 13 and 14.
New Young Recruits of Telugu Titans
Telugu Titans have signed four new young players ahead of Season 13, including Aryan Dhawale, a right raider from Maharashtra; Himanshu Lather, a right corner from Haryana; Laren Kumar, a right raider from Telangana; and Prince Kumar, a left corner from Haryana.
The team has trusted these four players to cover their bases in both defence and raiding. They have also gone for a local boy, Laren Kumar, who hails from Telangana, and this move has been appreciated by the Titans fans, who were waiting to see someone from their state represent their favourite team on the big stage.
The Titans’ biggest problems last season were the lack of a support raider and backups in defence, and those areas have been addressed with the inclusion of these new players.
The team will look to add more quality players in the auction to build a stable squad that covers all aspects and ensures proper backup for every position.
On the other hand, there has been no official confirmation regarding the dates of the PKL 13 auction, but it is speculated that it might take place in mid-October.
