What is the total budget of a PKL franchise in auction?

Every PKL team has a minimum budget in which they have to buy all the players.

The Pro Kabaddi League season 12 (PKL 12) auction will be held on May 31 and June 1. The teams, players, and fans have been curiously waiting for this auction after the splendid season 11. On May 17, the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) announced the ‘Elite Retained Players’, ‘Retained Young Players’, and ‘New Young Players’ retention and released list ahead of the season 12 auction.

As the big day approaches, the team management and think tank must hurry up with their blueprints for approaching the upcoming PKL season. However, the overall budget allotted to a team in the auction is 5 crores INR.

Every franchise has to retain players from their total budget of Rs. 5 crore before the auction, and the remaining amount will be used in the auction.

It will be interesting to see how teams shape their squads in the 12th season of PKL. Strong teams like Haryana Steelers, Patna Pirates, Dabang Delhi, UP Yoddhas, and U Mumba would like to retain their core squad and add some new talents, which can elevate their combinations.

On the other hand, teams that did not perform well in season 11, such as Telugu Titans, Bengaluru Bulls, Bengal Warriorz, Gujarat Giants, and Tamil Thalaivas, might consider making major changes and building a stronger squad for the upcoming PKL season.

The league’s journey began in 2014, and over the past 11 Seasons, there have been 8 different champions. Season 11 of PKL, held from October 18, 2024, to December 29, 2024, was a significant milestone, as the league entered its second decade, which further solidifies PKL’s position as one of India’s premier sporting leagues, enabling sustained growth and interest in Kabaddi.
