UP Yoddhas now sit in the second position in the Pro Kabaddi League points table.

UP Yoddhas will play Haryana Steelers in Match 26 of the Hyderabad Leg of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 11. The Jasveer Singh-coached Yoddhas are currently second on the table with 16 points from four games whereas Steelers under Manpreet Singh are placed seventh in the PKL 11 points table with 11 points from three games. Both teams have lost only once in the season.

The GMR-owned franchise has benefited from the return in the form of the all-rounder Bharat Hooda, who has completed three Super 10s in his last three Pro Kabaddi League games. With 40 raid points from four games, the former Bengaluru Bulls raider ranks fourth in the league for most points collected.

However, it has not been all about just Bharat in the Yoddhas’ raiding department. Surinder Gill and Bhavani Rajpoot have also chipped in and supported the all-rounder. Jasveer Singh would have hoped for more from the captain Surinder Gill, who has six points from three Pro Kabaddi League games other than the one against Bengaluru Bulls.

However, the red-hot form of Bharat Hooda and the amicable support provided by Bhavani Rajpoot has helped the UP Yoddhas continue their impressive run of results in Pro Kabaddi League 11.

Sumit has been the only consistent defender but the likes of Sahul Kumar and Mahender Singh have contributed well in at least one of the four games they have featured in so far. The Yoddhas would hope that their defence does more going forward, especially given the inconsistent run of form from Surinder Gill.

As for Haryana Steelers, they have one of the best defence in the league. Rahul Sethpal, Jaideep Dahiya, Mohammadreza Shadloui and Sanjay Dhull have had a great start as a defensive unit. The quartet has completed 34 successful tackles in three games.

Marquee signing Shadloui has hit the ground running from the first Pro Kabaddi League game. He collected four points (three through tackles) against Puneri Paltan, two points (both through tackles) against Jaipur Pink Panthers and 10 points against Dabang Delhi (four through tackles). His performance against the Delhi-based franchise, in particular, gave everyone a sense of why the Steelers splurged that much money in the auction for the Iranian all-rounder.

The raiding lineup has contributed well for the Steelers but there has not been anyone who has stood out. Vinay did complete a Super 10 against Jaipur Pink Panthers. The Steelers have one of the lowest raid success percentages and number of successful raids completed in the league so far. Among the major contributors are Vinay and Shivam Pathare. No other player from the JSW-owned franchise has more than 10 total raid points so far in the Pro Kabaddi League.
