In their previous fixture, they beat fellow top-six contender U Mumba by a margin of 30-27, thus extending their unbeaten run to six matches. A win against the Steelers would virtually seal them a spot in the playoffs.

When the two sides faced off earlier this season, Steelers won by a slim margin of 30–28.

Marquee signing Shadloui has hit the ground running from the first Pro Kabaddi League game. He collected four points (three through tackles) against Puneri Paltan, two points (both through tackles) against Jaipur Pink Panthers and 10 points against Dabang Delhi (four through tackles).

His performance against the Delhi-based franchise, in particular, gave everyone a sense of why the Steelers splurged that much money in the auction for the Iranian all-rounder.
