[Watch] PKL legend Deepak Hooda trapped in high rapids of Ganga; Uttarakhand Police rescue

Deepak Hooda has not been active in PKL for the last couple of years.

Former Indian national Kabaddi team captain, Deepak Hooda, recently encountered a scary incident in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Earlier today, Hooda was found stuck in the high rapids of the River Ganga. However, he was safely rescued by the rescue team on the spot.

The Arjuna awardee went for the holy dip in the River Ganga on the occasion of the sacred month of Sawan at the Har ki Paudi, Haridwar. However, things turned wrong when he found himself out of control and drifted away in the powerful flow of the river.

Uttarakhand Police took the platform X as a medium and disclosed the details of the incident. They uploaded a post on their X handle and stated-

“Star Kabaddi player… and Uttarakhand’s police’s star rescue. Arjuna Awardee and former captain of Team India, Deepak Hooda, got stuck in the high rapids of the River Ganga. The 40th battalion of the state police present during the incident immediately rescued him safely.” They added, “Deepak Hooda heartily thanked the team.”

Deepak Hooda was earlier accused of harassment

Deepak Hooda is regarded as one of the best all-rounders who has played for India. However, lately, he has been in the headlines for various negative reasons. Earlier this year, Hooda’s wife, former boxing world champion Saweety Boora, accused Hooda and his family of abusing her for dowry.

Later, she also accused the Hisar police authority of not moving the case fairly. She stated, “On March 11, I informed Hisar SP that I no longer want to live with him. I don’t want a single penny from him—just a divorce and my belongings.”

I submitted a partial list of my belongings, but no action has been taken for over a month. I appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji and our Home Minister for justice. I initially kept quiet, hoping for a peaceful resolution,” she added.

Deepak Hooda’s PKL career

Deepak Hooda is also going through a rough patch in his kabaddi career, where he remained unsold for the last couple of seasons of the Pro Kabaddi League. Hooda has a brilliant PKL career. He scored 1000 raid points and 91 tackle points.

After having a year full of controversies, Hooda found himself in a tight spot once again, but was luckily rescued by the vigilant state police rescue battalion.
