World Super Kabaddi League inaugural edition dates & venue announced

World Super Kabaddi League is also a franchise-based Kabaddi event.
The inaugural edition of the World Super Kabaddi League (WSKL) will be held in Dubai. WSKL will be the second biggest league after the Pro Kabaddi League.
Pro Kabaddi League is an Indian league that has been incredibly successful for 11 seasons, with another blockbuster season in the pipeline. Now Kabaddi will be showcased on a large scale to the international audience through the World Super Kabaddi League, which will be held in Dubai.
Sambhav Jain, Director and Founder of SJ Uplift Kabaddi Pvt. Ltd., who will operate the league, announced on Monday, June 30, 2025, that the WSKL will be organised in February-March 2026 and feature around 30 countries.
Like PKL, WSKL will also follow the franchise-based model. Eight teams will participate in the inaugural season. Each team will feature international players from several countries alongside the Indian players. The franchises will have a total player purse of INR 48 crore, i.e., each team will have a purse of INR 6 crore each to build their squad for the first season.
While talking to the press, Jain said, “Kabaddi has always deserved a larger stage, not just for India but for the global sporting community. With WSKL, our goal is to reimagine the sport for a global audience, unlock international talent, and take decisive steps towards Olympic recognition.”
The league’s focus is to attract more eyes to this spectacular contact sport. The sport is equally thrilling and entertaining as any other contact sport, such as football or rugby, but unfortunately, it isn’t as widely known.
With this International Exhibition of Kabaddi, the audience will get the opportunity to witness the intensity of this ancient sport, and it might find a place in the hearts of millions more fans.
Kabaddi-playing countries, South Korea, Iran, Thailand, Pakistan, Malaysia, Japan, Canada, and the United States have already shown their keen interest and support for this upcoming league. It will gain more confidence as it moves closer to launch. If the league becomes a hit, kabaddi might become a new popular sport around the globe.
