Son of newspaper seller, Aditya Ganpule eyes spot in inaugural Kho Kho World Cup in India

Aditya Ganpule also works in the railways apart from also being a Kho Kho player.

The Kho Kho World Cup 2025 is around the corner and everybody, from players to fans, can’t wait to witness the historic tournament. Budding Kho Kho player, Aditya Ganpule, is also excited to be a part of this historic move towards making Kho Kho popular globally. 

Sharing how this is a huge initiative and can help players build a bright future, the youngster said, “Kho Kho World Cup is coming up and it’s a huge thing. Sudhanshu Mittal sir and MS Tyagi sir and have really worked hard to conduct this World Cup. Our sport is also being promoted from ‘mitti to mat’. It feels good and now we have a future in Kho Kho.”

The sport and the federation have played a massive role in providing Aditya and his family a better lifestyle as both the brothers got jobs in railway department through sports quota. The youngster’s father who used to sell newspapers initially now owns a shop.

Revealing his family’s support for his sporting career, Aditya said, “I have huge family support. Earlier, from 6th to 9th standard, they used to support me but also asked me to focus on my studies. My family used to say that studies are also equally important. When I played the Sub-junior Nationals in 9th standard, my family supported me more.”

Aditya also shed light on his workout routine and how he manages to maintain his fitness. 

“I practice for two hours in the morning, which involves skill training related to Kho Kho. Then I go to the gym from 9:30-11:30 am for strengthening and agility training. In the evening, we have our practice from 7-9 pm. Since I work in Western Railways now, our practice takes place from 4:30-6:30 pm,” he concluded.
