There is no argument at the top. Makhachev remains the UFC’s and MMA’s undisputed No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter. The Dagestani star successfully defended his welterweight title against Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330 in Philadelphia on August 15, winning a hard-fought unanimous decision to push his record to 29-1.
That win also set a new record for the most consecutive victories inside the Octagon, cementing his case as one of the greatest fighters the sport has ever produced. A former lightweight king turned two-division champion, Makhachev shows no signs of slowing down.

2. Tom Aspinall
The UFC heavyweight champion has had a frustrating year, but he’s finally back. Aspinall hasn’t fought since his UFC 321 clash with Ciryl Gane ended in a no-contest last October after an accidental eye poke left him needing multiple surgeries.
He’s now medically cleared and back in full training, with a unification rematch against interim champion Gane in the works, likely to land on a numbered card later this year. When healthy, Aspinall’s combination of speed and power at heavyweight is unmatched.
3. Petr Yan
The Russian reclaimed the bantamweight gold from Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 323 in December, becoming a two-time champion in the process, only the second man in UFC history to do so in that division.

A training partner of Makhachev, Nurmagomedov is widely regarded as the best fighter outside the Octagon and continues to build a case for a potential superfight down the line.
5. Arman Tsarukyan
The UFC’s top-ranked lightweight contender has been on the shelf from MMA competition since submitting Dan Hooker in November 2025, staying busy instead with grappling exhibitions.
That layoff ends soon, Tsarukyan is officially back on September 19 at UFC 331 in Los Angeles, taking on Mauricio Ruffy in a fight expected to put him back in the title picture at 155 pounds.
