Nazareth Lalthazuala, aka “The Northstar,” has punched his way into the consciousness of Indian MMA fans after his brutal KO win over Jhon Brutas at the recent Friday Nights 157 event of the ONE Championship. With the statement win, he earned a massive $100k ONE Championship contract.
The bout marked Nazareth’s third fight in the Singapore-based promotion, and with the win, he remained undefeated in ONE Championship with a record of 3-0 and a total MMA record of 8-0.
Who is Nazareth Lalthazuala?
Born 1st January, 2001, Nazareth hails from the mountains of Zemabawk, Mizoram. According to Hmarram, an online magazine for the Hamar tribe, which Nazareth belongs to, the Indian sensation had humble beginnings.
Per the magazine, Nazareth used to sell vegetables and drive SUVs and trucks to support his career and join the ever-increasing list of combat sports athletes from the North East part of India who are shining the spotlight on the Tricolour.
Per Tapology, Nazareth started his combat sports career in boxing in 2022. He then transitioned into MMA with his first professional bout at the BWC: Rising Warriors Charity Event in Uganda in November 2024, defeating Farouk Ogwal in the main event of the show.
After racking up five wins, he made his ONE Championship debut at the ONE Friday Fights 135 in November 2025, defeating Masaki Suzuki in the opening minute of the very first round to continue his undefeated streak, which now has extended to 8-0.

Nazareth is also a three-time national flyweight MMA champion, a decorated kickboxer with multiple medals, including an international gold, and a bronze medalist in Wushu at the 2025 National Games.
With the recent first-round knockout over Jhon Brutas, Nazareth has started to knock on the door of mainstream stardom, and if his recent wins are any indication, he could soon emerge as one of India’s biggest MMA stars.
