A new sequel is releasing next year!
The first live-action Minecraft movie was a blockbuster and now fans finally have something to look forward to. The sequel to this movie now finally has an official name: Minecraft Movie Squared.
Warner Bros. has officially revealed the title and has also announced a special community contest that could allow players to become part of the movie.

Minecraft Movie Squared set for 2027 release
The first Minecraft movie was a massive success for Warner Bros. and Mojang Studios. It had an amazing cast such as Jack Black and Jason Momoa and it easily became one of the biggest video game movie adaptations ever released.
Following this performance, a sequel was greenlit in late 2025. During that time, the movie was targeting a June 27, 2027 release date.
However, now Warner Bros. has officially rescheduled the release date for the movie to July 23, 2027.
The new title for the sequel has also been revealed: “Minecraft Movie Squared,” as the studio now expands its Minecraft universe.
Minecraft movie build challenge announced
Alongside the new sequel movie, Minecraft has also launched a new community event, which is called the Minecraft Movie Build Challenge.
This will provide players with an opportunity to showcase their creativity using a limited set of blocks and building space.
Unlike traditional competitions, players will work with the same resources, which will make creativity and design the main key factors.
The prize for this competition is absolutely insane. The winner will receive an invitation to a private screening of Minecraft Movie Squared and could potentially see their creation in the film itself with the movie’s end credits.
