In what could be described as a game to keep their heads high, the Indian National Football Team faced Myanmar in an AFC Asian Cup Qualifier on Tuesday night. The game ended as a 2-2 draw in Goa, with India and Stephen Constantine coming out of the fixture with a 13-game unbeaten streak. The Indian head coach later appeared in a press conference and he went on to talk about his take on the game.

Both the sides displayed attacking prowess throughout the game. However, both failed to outscore each other. Talking about the chances to score more goals Constantine said, “I think it was a game where we could have scored five or six.”

The spectators noticed a very unusual display from the Indian Blues against Myanmar. The side lacked several technical aspects of the game. However, the Indian gaffer disagreed and said he was happy with the way his team approached and played the match, terming the gameplay 'superb'.

Indian skipper, Sunil Chhetri, scored the first equalizer for the hosts in the 13th minute. However, despite scoring a goal and playing an important role upfront, Chhetri also wasn’t his usual self. When asked if the skipper could have done better, Constantine said, “He is a striker, sometimes he scores the chances and sometimes he doesn’t.”  The Indian head coach also revealed that he felt that other players could have had scored hat-tricks if everything went well for the hosts. “I think Sandesh Jhingan could have had a hat-trick, Jeje Lalpekhlua could have had a hat-trick,” he said.

The English coach, although adamant about a superior Indian gameplay admitted that the side didn’t begin the game to his expectations as they conceded a goal with less than a minute on the clock. “We started sloppy and we paid for it”, the 55-year-old coach said.

Talking about what might have gone wrong in conceding the first goal Constantine said it was over-confidence that made the draw inevitable for his side. “Sometimes we are a little too confident. Today was an example of that. It was a near perfect game for Myanmar and it wasn't for us.”
