The ball went into the back of the net for Brazil after the full-time whistle went off, but they won't be bothered by that as they move onto the semi-finals. The Selecao showed some character in the second half and rallied off the support to score two stunning strikes which outclassed the Germans in the end. This is Uttiyo Sarkar signing off for Khel Now. Good Night Ladies and Gentlemen!
90+5' The Brazilians held their ground and denied Germany any chance of putting in a dangerous ball into the box. The Germans were tired and frustrated, but were looking for a late equalizer which would send the game to penalties. They received a free-kick in the half-line which was their last roll of the dice, with the keeper also coming on to attack. Brazil defended and almost went on the counter-attack, but the Germans received one more free-kick which went out of play to Brazil's hands. The Germans kept on attacking and received a final corner in the 98th minute! But a Brazilian player was fouled and it was game, set and match for Brazil!
90' Germany looked exhausted but went back to the terrorizing Yeboah for an attack, with the tricky winger delivering a good cross towards Arp, who couldn't put his head to it. Brazil gained possession and were content with just keeping the ball running as 6 mins of added time was announced.
85' Christian Wueck was trying to go all out for an equalizer as Elias Abouchabaka made way for Jessic Ngankam. Brazil also made a substitution with Victor Bobsin going off for Matheus Stockl. The European giants were looking desperate for an equalizer as play was stopped because of an injury. Nicolas Kuehn went off for Noah Awuku.
80' Meanwhile Germany make a substitution with Alexander Nitzl making way for Jan Boller. The Germans looked to threaten from the left as Kuehn went past Wesley and passed it to Yeboah, who had a shout for penalty shut down. Arp took a shot later on through the crowded defense, but it was saved by Brazao.
77' GOALLLLLLLLLL!! WHAT A STUNNING STRIKE FROM PAULINHO! The midfielder gets the ball 30 yards from goal and hits an incredible shot which was beyond the reach of Plogmann and sends the crowd absolutely wild here in Kolkata!!!
75' The Germans looked rattled by that equalizer and were almost caught out by Brazil once again when Paulinho found some space to take a shot, which sailed over the bar. Another Cooling break takes place as the attendance is announced as a record of 66,630! Brazil get another chance with Lincoln getting a glorious chance to score, but he scuffed his shot wide 10 yards from the goal.
71' GOAALLLL! Brazil finally break open the German defense as Alan shows some creativity and found the open Weverson on the left-side of the penalty area, with the substitute's thunderous shot striking the post and into the net to bring things level yet again.
70' Arp stole the ball in midfield but his shot was a rather disappointing one. Brazil's center-backs were looking for opportunities to dink the ball beyond the German defense but were finding it really difficult. Wesley showed some energy for Brazil as he darted through the right and played the ball to Alberto, whose shot was a frail one.
65' Brazil were coming closer and closer to finding the equalizer and were inspired by the overwhelming support from the Kolkata fans. They made another substitution with the disappointing Brenner going off for Yuri Alberto. The players get some time to cool off as Sahverdi Cetin went down after taking a kick in the back from Alberto. Brazil went on another stunning counter-attack with Lincoln again darting forward with the ball after a mistake from the German defense and played in a terrific pass to the middle, but nobody could put the ball into the back of the net!
60' Yeboah was turning out to be a real pain for Brazil on that right flank as he tricked his way past their defense yet again to earn a corner. The corresponding set-piece was a dangerous one, forcing Brazao to punch the ball out as it fell into the path of a German defender whose header went just over the post. Vitao made a surging run towards the attack and passed it to Lincoln, whose dangerous left-footed attempt was saved by Plogmann for a corner. The striker got another opportunity off the corner, rising highest among the players but his header going wide off the mark.
55' The Selecao has a shout for a penalty when Brenner went down inside the box after a tackle from Vagnoman, but was told to get up by referee Jair Marrufo. Brazil got a shot at goal when Alad made a diagonal run and struck a shot which went wide off the mark as the South Americans were struggling to break through the German defense.
50' Brazil went on the attack right from the word go with Lucas Halter making a darting run from defense, but his pass was intercepted by Germany. The European giants later went on a counter-attack with Yeboah and Arp linking up yet again, but the former's pass was cut out. Nicolas Kuehn showed some great feet and went past a defender on the left, but couldn't deliver the final product as Germany got a shot on target with Cetin shooting straight at Gabriel Brazao.
21:00 The teams are coming back to the pitch. Brazil have made a change with Luan Candido going off for Weverson.
HALF-TIME: Brazil looked really threatening in the first minutes of the match, but Germany slowly took over the game with Arp and Yeboah proving to be terrorizing for them. The German captained scored his 5th goal of the competition to give them the lead, as the Selecao couldn't cope up with the high pressing and physicality of the Germans.
45' Germany were proving up to be physically superior to Brazil as Arp used his physicality to win the ball near Brazil's box and play it to Yeboah inside the box, who played a brilliant ball to the middle but it was cleared off by Vitao. Brazil finally went on a dangerous counter-attack as Lincoln raced from the half-line to the Germany penalty-box, but was denied by an amazing last-ditch tackle from Bisseck. Two minutes were added as additional time, but the Germans were content with letting time run out and head into the break with the lead.
40' The Germans keep on attacking through the wings as Abouchabaka shows some fancy feet as a dangerous ball is played in from the left, but Germany only get a corner from it afterward which results to nothing. The European giants are pressing high up and making it really difficult for Brazil to play a free-flowing game in the middle, forcing them to move to the ball to the wings where it normally fizzles out.
35' Brazil conjured up a beautiful move through the middle with Lincoln playing a great pass through the middle, but the Germans recovered the ball. Brazilian stars Paulinho and Brenner seem to have changed their flanks as Brazil are looking to change up their style to go past the sturdy German defense.
30' Both teams looked a bit exhausted as a cooling break is taking place to help these players with the scorching humidity of Kolkata. Brazil look revitalized after that break as they mounted an attack immediately after it, with Brenner's shot going straight to the hands of Plogmann. Germany went on the counter and received a corner, but the header went over the bar.
26' Brazil looked for an instant response and attacked through the left again, but a threatening cross was saved by Luca Plogmann. The Germans kept playing on the front as Elias Abouchabaka got some space and hit a low effort which drifted just wide of the goal. Germany got a free-kick, but it was cleared out well by the Selecao.
21' GOAAALLL! Jann-Fiete Arp takes the penalty and calmly puts the ball into the back of the net to give Germany the lead!
20' The Germans start threatening through the right themselves as John Yeboah finally gets the ball and displays his trickery through the right, but his final ball in the middle is disappointing. The Germans mount another attack through the right, with Dominik Becker putting in a dangerous cross which couldn't be converted by anyone. The Germans steal the ball in midfield and the duo of Arp and Yeboah is too hot for Brazil to handle, with the Germans getting a penalty after Yeboah is brought down inside the box.
15' The South Americans are looking to mount their attack through the wings. Germany have gained some posession lately and the Selecao are content with them having it for now. Wesley launches a lofted ball for Lincoln in the middle, but the striker cannot beat Bisseck to the ball.
9' Brazil receive the first big chance of the match as Alan went past the scrambled German defense, with his thunderous shot striking the bar and out. Germany gained some composure and went on an attack themselves, later getting a corner. But they couldn't really threaten with the set-piece. Both teams look desperate to win the midfield battle.
4' The Brazilians are enjoying much of the early possession. They try to send Paulinho with a lofted ball through the left, but the attacker can't really beat the defense.
1' Kickoff! The Germans are attacking the right side. Both teams look desperate to gain possession of the ball.
19:55 The national anthems are now done! The players look raring to go as they pose up for the team photos.
19:50 The two teams are now making their way into the pitch for the national anthems. Kick-off is just around the corner folks!
19:45 The players have now gone into the dressing rooms to kit up for the match. Germany seem to be playing a 5-man defense today to contain the attacking threat of the Brazilians, who have made only one change as compared to Germany's two changes.
The game is being played at VYBK Stadium, Kolkata and Khel Now's correspondent Uttiyo Sarkar will bring you the live updates from the thick of the action! Stay tuned.
