The Italian giants tweeted in support just minutes after Gokulam held Mohun Bagan in their I-League opener.
There are many similarities between I-League side Gokulam Kerala and Serie A giants AS Roma. Not only are these two sides renowned for their giant-killing on the pitch, but these two clubs have made their presence felt off the pitch too, primarily because of their activities in the community.
Months ago, it was noticed that this Italian club, who defeated FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League last season, had followed back the I-League side, coached by Bino George, on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Gokulam Kerala's jersey for the 2018-19 season, which was launched earlier this month, had similarities with that of The Yellow and Reds. In their first league match this season, Gokulam held Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan at EMS Stadium, Calicut. After the match, AS Roma's twitter handle posted a tweet mentioning the southerners as AS Roma's Twitter Team Of The Day.
Each day we shine a social spotlight on a club we follow & today we want to introduce @GokulamKeralaFC, our #ASRoma Team of the Day. A young Indian club inspired by Roma & one of the only I-League clubs with a women’s team at national level. Good luck this season! ???????? ???? ???????? pic.twitter.com/45zj29hc2P

Last campaign, Gokulam fielded a squad in the Indian Women's League and were the only top flight side to do so. AS Roma, in their tweet, mentioned it as well and wished the Malabarians good luck for this term, where they aim to earn a spot in the top three.
Gokulam's activities so far have been promising to say the least. Ahead of their I-League campaign, they refurbished the EMS Stadium and have assembled a bunch of talented players to deliver a better display this season.
