Real Kashmir set to train with Borussia Dortmund in Germany

The club became the first Kashmir-based outfit to have undertaken consecutive overseas tours to Scotland and Germany.

I-League Second Division champions Real Kashmir will visit Germany for a training stint at renowned Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund, the club confirmed earlier this week.

The club released a statement saying, “We were the first team to play in Scotland. We are now the first youth team from Kashmir to visit Germany for a training camp.” Furthermore, the club expressed its gratitude towards the German side saying, “We also want to thank Borussia Dortmund for  giving a small club like Real Kashmir FC an opportunity to visit them and train at their football school.”

Club owner Sandeep Chattoo told the  The Times of India, “It is just the beginning. We want Real Kashmir to be what Barcelona is to Spain and what United is for Manchester and what BVB is to the city of Dortmund."

"We want every kid of the state who loves to play football, either aspire to play for Real Kashmir FC or become a supporter by default.”

"The club is aiming to expand their community and constantly working towards providing opportunities for the talented youngsters in the Kashmir valley," he added.

Since their foundation in 2016, the Leopards of Kashmir have performed exceptionally well and earned a lot of admirers in India. The team won the 2nd division of the I-League last season after beating Hindustan FC 3-2 in the final.

Apart from facing tough opponents on the pitch, Real Kashmir have also faced many off-field obstructions en route to achieving such great success and the announcement suggests they are in no mood to stop.

After their triumph against Hindustan FC last season, Chattoo delightfully stated, “We want to change the whole scenario, we want to bring a football revolution in Kashmir. We have opened the way. We want to make this paradise on Earth, a paradise for football.”

The Srinagar-based outfit has defied all the odds to achieve great heights. The newcomers in the I-League come with a different and a truly inspirational story of their own. With much potential, only time will tell how the club performs in the top flight later this year.
