Exclusive: Renedy Singh and NEROCA FC part ways

The 39-year-old has been a distinguished player during his career with India.

Just after recently being appointed as NEROCA FC's head coach, Renedy Singh is no more associated with the Manipur-based club. It is according to Khel Now's understanding with certain club sources, the former India international is now the technical director of Classic Football Academy.

As it is known that Classic were one of the primary investors of the Orange Brigade, and backed out after the Super Cup fiasco. According to Khel Now sources, after the Super Cup fiasco, Classic didn't see their investment in NEROCA feasible due to the current situation of the Indian footballing scenario.

Currently, Classic Football Academy is just for youth development, meanwhile, the company is also organising the new Manipur Premier League.

NEROCA finished off the 2018-19 I-League season with a sixth-place finish. The club registered 26 points, coupled with seven wins, five draws, and eight losses. During the Super Cup protest, the club had threatened to shut shop too!

Renedy Singh's appointment was seen as a sign of good things to come by some fans. The former United Sikkim player has an AFC A license. A distinguished midfielder during his playing career, Renedy was known for his shot accuracy and set-piece skills. One of his high points in his career was when he represented Mohun Bagan between 1996 and 2004.

He has also represented East Bengal, Kerala Blasters, and JCT FC in the past. With the Blue Tigers, he won the 2007 Nehru Cup, and 2008 AFC Challenge Cup.
