Jamshedpur FC Reserves one up Bengaluru FC 'B' in Second Division

A red card each for both teams saw the match in favour of the Boys of Steel.

Bengaluru FC 'B' suffered their second loss of the campaign going down 2-1 to Jamshedpur FC Reserves in a thrilling 2nd Division League clash at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, in Jamshedpur, on Wednesday. A Gourav Mukhi (74’, 87’) brace on either side of a Lalrintluanga Chawnglut (75’) strike meant the Blue Colts (17 points) dropped to second place in Group-C, three points behind leaders TRAU FC (20).

Going into their fourth away game of the campaign, Coach Naushad Moosa made one change to the line up as defender Prashanth Kalinga replaced the suspended Asheer Akhtar.

In a game of equal exchanges, both sides created a host of chances in the opening half but couldn’t make it count in the final third. The best chance of the first period fell for Jamshedpur’s Prakash Naik who missed a sitter in the 39th minute.

The Blue Colts piled the pressure in the second half with attacks from either flank but continued to lack the killer touch. The best chance of the first hour fell for defender Nishu Kumar in the 53rd minute, but his attempt was cleared off the line by Subham Ghosh.

With both sides battling hard, a defensive error allowed the hosts to break the deadlock in the 74th minute as Swarup Das ran through the middle before sending Gourav clear who made no mistake to finish past Shainkhan.

At the other end, the Blue Colts equalized almost instantly as Altamash Sayed sent substitute Leon Augustine through on the right who then curled in a cross towards Lamgoulen. The striker’s attempt from inside the box was blocked by a defender and the stray ball fell for Lalrintluanga who smashed it home from close range to make it 1-1 a minute later.

With both sides going all out attack in search of the winner in the final quarter, it was Jamshedpur who managed to get the upper hand scoring the winner in the 87th minute. Winger Leon lost the ball in attack and Gourav capitalized racing solo before beating a defender and the ’keeper to slot home and win the tie for Jamshedpur.

Both sides ended the game with ten-men after BFC’s Parag Shrivas and JFC’s Baset Hansdah were sent off for second yellows deep into injury time. Bengaluru FC ‘B’ now travel to Kolkata to face Mohammedan Sporting in their final game of the season on May 13.
