Hindustan FC edge Lonestar Kashmir in tight second Division contest
The Delhi club is running riot in Group A by keeping up their winning run.
Hindustan FC had the last laugh against Lonestar Kashmir after a fiery I-League Second Division match played earlier today at Ambedkar Stadium, Delhi. The scoreboard showed one goal to nil by the end of 90 minutes.
Lonestar Kashmir controlled the flow of play early on and were the first to threaten at the 5th minute mark but Hindustan’s keeper did his best to turn a marvellous shot from Karun Raina out of his goal. In the 13th minute, Lonestar could have opened their scoring but sent the ball wide instead. Soon after Hindustan FC let go an easy chance to open the scoring as Martins Remi failed to send home a tap-in.
Unfavourable climatic conditions made the referee blow the whistle for a two-minute water break. Lonestar Kashmir’s forward Karun Raina with his amazing dribbling skills dictated play throughout the game. In the 36th minute, with his amazing skills, Mithun Samonto saved a shot in the favour of Hindustan FC, keeping the Delhi outfit in the game.
The first goal came from the home team in the 38th minute when Lonestar’s keeper Seikh Sadek couldn’t stop a direct shot from Maneshwar Mushahary. One minute before the first half ended, Lonestar’s keeper saved an amazing shot which nullified the last attack of the half's play. At the end of which the score was intact at one nil.
The second half saw Lonestar Kashmir roaring for an equaliser but they failed to do much harm to Hindustan.
In the 81st minute, Lonestar got a corner in their favour but midfielder Akshay Hurria missed the opportunity to send the ball into the net.
At the end of the second half, five minutes of added time were given but both the teams failed to capitalise on it.
Hindustan FC will be playing their next match with Real Kashmir on 12th April, whereas, Lonestar Kashmir will be seeing Hindustan FC again on 15th April in Srinagar.
