Ashley Westwood is expected to be announced as the new head coach for the remainder of the season.
Indian Super League (ISL) outfit ATK are set to sack head coach Teddy Sheringham after a string of poor results, Khel Now understands. Sheringham didn't live up to the expectations of the owners and the team is currently struggling in this campaign, having collected only 12 points from 10 games and are languishing at 8th place in the standings.
According to a source close to the developments, ATK are planning to recommend Technical Director Ashley Westwood as his replacement for the rest of the season. The Englishman has worked closely with Sheringham in building this new squad before the campaign. Westwood comes with a vast knowledge of Indian football and has previously managed Bengaluru FC, even leading them to the the I-League title a few seasons ago.
Sheringham was rumoured to have had rifts with Westwood in the past few months, with the two not exactly seeig eye to eye in terms of how the team should play. Sheringham hasn't impressed ATK fans at all by changing the Spanish core and bringing in some English players to replace the beloved Spanish ones from last season, something which has come back to bite them this season.

ATK are currently seven points off the 4th place FC Goa and will need to win almost all their remaining matches in order to have a chance of making the playoffs. Having made the knockout stages in all three previous campaigns and being two-time champions, it would be an embarrassment for the club to miss out on the playoffs this season.
Can Westwood match the ambitions of the club owners?
Westwood is expected to be announced as the new head coach of the team and could be in the dugout when the defending champions take on Chennaiyin FC on Thursday at the Salt Lake Stadium.

Ironically, Westwood's and Sheringham's path go way back in the mid-1990s when Teddy was the first team player at Manchester United and Ashley was in the youth team.
