Ferran Corominas scored the only goal of the game against the Marina Machans.

It was a resilient victory for FC Goa as they capitalized on Chennaiyin FC’s lack of awareness to score the solitary goal in their last league game of the season. An Ahmed Jahouh long ball sent Jackichand free on the wing and he teed it up for ISL top-scorer Ferran Corominas to finish past Karanjit Singh.

Chennaiyin finish the campaign at the bottom of the table with single-digit points, while Goa head into the playoffs with great momentum.

FC Goa

Naveen Kumar6.5

Was rarely called into action in the first half. In the second half, the Gaurs' custodian dealt with a few dangerous crosses from the Chennaiyin wings, punching them away to safety or catching them when required.

Seriton Fernandes- 6.0

The local lad was very involved offensively and defensively during the game. He made several intelligent runs to aid the attack and also did his defensive duties efficiently. Got a needless yellow card in the second half. He was substituted due to the caution he received.

Chinglensana Singh-  6.5

The defender was solid at the back, but had very little to do in the first half. His distribution was solid and in the second 45 managed to stop Gregory Nelson’s cross from doing the Gaurs any damage. he ended the game with 96% passing accuracy.

Saviour Gama- 6.5

The youngster was very active in his first ever start for the Gaurs. He was, however, shaky at times, committing needless fouls. He improved as the game went on, blocking crosses and stopping opposition forays brilliantly. He made an amazing eight tackles and also blocked one shot.

Lenny Rodrigues-  7.5

Controlled the midfield efficiently along with Jahouh. But, the Goan was sloppy at times and towards the end of the first half, gave the ball away cheaply to allow Chennaiyin to break and create an attack. Lenny finished the match with an amazing 92% passing accuracy and also made three crucial tackles.

Jackichand Singh- 8.0

The winger’s constant energy created several problems for the Chennaiyin backline. He gave a splendid one-touch assist for Ferran Corominas to open the scoring for the Gaurs. The former Kerala Blasters man was a very important focal point for all attacks. He almost created Goa’s second, when he put the striker through on goal again with a beautiful pass, but the Spaniard failed to convert.

Substitutions

Brandon Fernandes- 6.0

He had two shots go agonizingly wide off the post. He constantly kept the opposition full-back alert with clever darting runs that almost gave Goa a second in the game. Got a yellow for a really late challenge.

Karanjit Singh-  6.0

Managed to pull off some really good stops in the first half, but failed to prevent the goal. He was alert and was always quick and ready to come off his line to block shots or collect stray passes.

Laldinliana Renthlei-  5.5

Was very quiet during the whole game. Failed to deal with the skill and energy of Brandon Fernandes in the second half and almost allowed him to sneak an opening for Goa’s second.

Tondonba Singh- 5.5

The former NEROCA payer was constantly troubled by the pace and skill of Jackichand. The latter’s pace finally got the better of the full-back, when he reached Jahouh’s long ball first to provide Corominas with a sweet assist. He improved his influence offensively in the first half, delivering good crosses. However, he was given a yellow card in the second half for catching the forward late.

Anirudh Thapa- 6.0

Anirudh Thapa was one of the few bright performers for the Marina Machans. He was constantly trying to feed the frontline and exercise his creativity. His active defending saw him accumulate five interceptions.
