This is the first time that the Gaurs haven't scored a goal at home.

Playoff contenders FC Goa and Jamshedpur FC played out an entertaining goalless draw at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa. Both teams’ offenses were held at bay by the opposition defenders, as they had to settle for one point each.

The Gaurs had the better chances and held more of the ball, but failed to utilize their dominance. Jamshedpur shot-stopper Subrata Paul was at his best to deny the Goa attack throughout the contest.

The Gaurs had their share of opportunities to win the game. Sergio Lobera stated, “I think we had some good chances. But, obviously, when you don’t take them you don’t get the three points. I think the team has done a good job against a very good team. The only thing we were missing in the game was the lack of goals. At the end if you can’t get the victory, you cannot be happy as a coach.”

Midfield general Ahmed Jahouh was a substitute against Jamshedpur. “The main reason why Jahouh didn’t play was because we had many good players to choose from. The last game in Fatorda was a great performance and we wanted to give a continuation to that performance,” the Spaniard explained.

This is the first home match this season, in which Goa has failed to score. “For an attacking side like we are, it is very strange not to get goals, especially at home. Defensively, however, the team has done a very good job,” the gaffer concluded.

Cesar Ferrando’s side had come away with three points in the first encounter. “Every match is different. We played away against a good team in FC Goa. I’m happy with the one point. At this moment, the most important match for us is our next one,” the former Atletico Madrid manager explained.

He continued on about the game, “They play very well, but we had chances to go top of them in the table. We have to play very hard and try to win the next match.”

“We had two or three chances. My keeper also made two or three important saves. They had more possession than us. Sometimes you can play very well, but sometimes you have to defend well. They were playing well and pressing us well, and I think my team defended well,” the former Valencia player concluded.

The fourth-placed Gaurs travel to Mumbai to take on the table-toppers on 1st February, while ATK welcome Jamshedpur, as the Men of Steel look to infiltrate the playoff places on 3rd February.
