It was the first defeat of the season for the Gaurs.
Jamshedpur FC put on a scintillating performance at home to beat FC Goa 4-1 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on Thursday. Michael Soosairaj bagged a brace and deservedly took home the Hero of the Match award while Memo and Sumeet Passi also contributed a goal each for the hosts.
Cesar Ferrando, Jamshedpur’s head coach was present at the post-match press conference and the Spaniard was delighted with his side’s performance. “We played the match very well throughout. We played well against Kerala too, but we didn’t make the most of our chances. But today we corrected those mistakes, by keeping the ball with us in the second half. So, that’s why we put on a good show in the second half. I’m very happy with the team and the performance,” Ferrando boasted.
When asked about the performance of his Indian players, Ferrando explained, “Robin (Gurung), Pratik (Chowdhary), (Bikash) Jairu, (Sumeet) Passi and Gourav (Mukhi) all played really well and were always helping the team. I am very happy with the performance. From the first day of the season to now, they have improved a lot and I want them to improve more.”
“Soosai had a good game which showed with him scoring two goals. He is always looking to create chances in the opposition half and I am vey happy with his performance. Gourav too had a good game and he has a bright future ahead of him, but we want to build him up step by step,” he added.

Ferrando’s counterpart, Sergio Lobera, was extremely disappointed with his team’s performance but complimented Jamshedpur for outplaying them on the night. “Today, they played much better than us in all departments. Today we have to accept our mistakes, because the way we played, we didn’t please our fans. Since the day I joined FC Goa, this has been the worst performance by us. Being the coach, I have to say that we need to improve and from now on we will start working from now on, so that we don’t give such a performance in the next game,” Lobera explained.
Lobera though refused to pin the loss solely on the absence of their suspended star Ferran Corominas. ” If you look at the match, it’ll show a great lack of responsibility on my side, if I say that we lost the match due to the absence of one player. We saw what happened today,” Lobera said.
