The Spaniard became the highest-ever goalscorer in the league last season.
ATK and Jamshedpur FC target Ferran Corominas has brushed aside interests from the two clubs and is set to commit his future with the Gaurs for the upcoming season, Khel Now understands.
The Spaniard, who became Indian Super League (ISL)'s highest ever goal scorer last season wanted a hike of $100K USD in his $350K USD salary, was ready to move out of the club in search of greener pastures. However, a senior FC Goa official had travelled to Spain to talk to the 36-year-old, which seem to have worked in favor of the Gaurs to retain him for next season.
According to sources, ATK used influence by captain Manuel Lanzarote to lure the striker to join the Kolkata based outfit. Sources also suggested that Coro and the FC Goa management did not agree to the terms of a new deal initially and hence he has decided to part ways, however, the scenario has changed in favour of the Gaurs as the striker has agreed to stay with them in the next season.
It is also understood that the Gaurs' last offer was the same salary of $350K or around ₹2.5 Crores, which Corominas initially turned down but has now agreed to stay with FC Goa next season. It is now understood that FC Goa's multi-year deals with other players have exhausted their salary cap, which made a pay raise for Corominas impossible for the club.

Under the tutelage of Sergio Lobera, FC Goa have established themselves as one of the top sides of ISL in recent times. Although the Gaurs failed to win the title twice in the five years of the league's existence, retaining important figures in the dressing room and smart recruting policy could change that next season.
