David de Gea still one of world's best goalkeepers- Nemanja Matic
The shot-stopper has come under fire in recent months for a string of poor performances that have cost his team points.
Manchester United midfielder, Nemanja Matic has come out in support of David De Gea after his string of poor performances right at the back end of the season for the Red Devils.
The Spanish international has been criticised for his high profile errors and off late the custodian has been well below his standards. His performances have also affected Manchester United as Solskjaer's men are chasing for a top-four spot in the Premier League to qualify for the Champions League next season.
The goalkeeper was under the scanner since he came up with a error against Everton allowing Gylfi Sigurdsson to score a crucial goal. His poor run of games continued as he was sloppy against Lionel Messi in their Champions League clash. He then followed it up with another poor showing against Chelsea which the Red Devils needed to win but could only manage a 1-1 draw. De Gea's parried Antonio Rudiger's shot which landed straight into the path of Marcos Alonso who made no mistake to restore parity for the Blues.
Matic however still believes that it is just a rough patch and De Gea is still one of the best goalkeepers around and will soon rediscover his form.
"Players make mistakes in every game and when a goalkeeper makes a mistake everyone sees that," Matic told Sky Sports News.
"When you are one of the best goalkeepers in the world people talk so much about his mistakes. When a goalkeeper at a 'smaller' club makes a mistake, it's spoken about for one or two days, but one of De Gea's mistakes is being spoken about for seven days.
"I'm very confident that this mistake won't affect his career. He doesn't read newspapers. He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and will be for years to come. I am very happy to have him in the team.
"He is a great guy, a great goalkeeper, and is probably the best player at United over the last four or five years. He is very focused on his job and is a good character. It's good to have people like him in the dressing room."
The Spanish custodian has been Manchester United's best player for the last few seasons, as he has won the Manchester United’s player of the year award for four of the last five seasons.
Even Manchester United boss, Ole Solskjaer backed his main man and confirmed that the Spaniard will retain his place in the starting XI against Huddersfield.
"David has been fantastic this season", Solskjaer stated.
"Towards the end, he’s been in headlines for the wrong reasons but he has to deal with that. David is ready for Sunday. David’s confident and looking forward to the next two games, he wants to prove how good a goalkeeper he is. The performances over the years, David’s got all my confidence," He concluded.

The Red Devils are currently in sixth position behind Chelsea and Arsenal and three points adrift of the top four. They travel to Huddersfield on Sunday before hosting Cardiff City on the final day of the season.
Chances of United getting a top-four berth is pretty bleak, yet Matic is keeping his hopes alive and will be looking to do everything in their hands to reach the destined target.
"We have to be focused on our games and not to think about Chelsea and Arsenal," Matic added.

"You have to be focused and forget the last games when you win or lose. You have to be focused for the next challenge."
