Top 10 most expensive Premier League signings this summer

Its been a summer of moderate activity from the big boys of the English top flight but large sums of money have still exchanged hands.

The Premier League transfer window is just a few days away from wrapping up. The preponed deadline of the summer's window forced clubs to enter the transfer race very early, with most of the clubs diving into the player pool during the 2018 World Cup  or within few weeks after it was over. Arsenal and Liverpool have been the most active among the big teams having signed five and four players respectively, bringing the likes of Lucas Torreira, Sokratis, Alisson, Naby Keita and Fabinho to England.

Digging deep into this summer's signings, Khel Now presents you the top 10 most expensive Premier League signings of this summer so far.

10.  Jean Michael Seri (OGC Nice - Fulham FC - £25m)

The central midfielder signed a 4-year deal with newly-promoted side Fulham worth £25m. The 27-year-old played 123 games for his Ligue 1 club Nice, before stepping foot into the Premier League.

Seri's exceptional game sense and experience will play a vital role in Fulham's progress in the upcoming season.

9. Felipe Anderson (Lazio - West Ham United FC - £35m)

The 25-year-old Brazilian winger/attacking midfielder is one of the few players to watch out for in the coming campaign. West Ham paid a massive £35m to secure his services from Serie A side Lazio.

The Brazilian had a great outing with Lazio, having played 177 games and scored 34 goals for them. His ability to make crucial runs and provide accurate passes will surely help West Ham to upgrade their performances from last season.

8. Richarlison (Watford FC - Everton FC - £40m)

After a wonderful 2017-18 season, the Brazilian youngster was on the radar of many big clubs. The 21-year-old produced some stunning performance last term, scoring five goals and creating numerous chances.

Everton won the race to sign him by paying £40m. The winger is already grabbing the attention of the footballing world, which clearly shows the talent he has.

7. Fabinho (AS Monaco FC - Liverpool FC - £43.7m)

The AS Monaco star, Fabinho joined Liverpool for a massive £43.7m. The right-back has played for Brazilian clubs Fluminense, Rio Ave as well as for Real Madrid B and their senior side till 2013.

He then moved to Monaco on a two-year loan deal which was later turned into a permanent signing after the end of 2014-15 campaign. The 24-year-old played 233 games for the Ligue 1 side and has 31 goals to his name.

6. Jorginho (Napoli - Chelsea FC - £57m)

The 26-year-old was very close to signing for Manchester City before choosing to join his ex-manager Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge. The Blues hijacked his deal with City by paying a whopping £57m.

Watch: Sarri brought Jorginho with him and it will be interesting to see how the move pans out

The midfielder was one of the many reasons behind Napoli's quality title chase in Serie A last season, thus his inclusion is definitely a big boost for the Blues.

5. Fred (Shakhtar Donetsk - Manchester United - £52m)

The 25-year-old Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder arrived at the Theater of Dreams for a massive £52m. Fred played 101 games for the Ukranian club, with 10 goals to his name.

Apart from signing for Manchester United the Brazilian had a very bad summer as he suffered an injury during practice with the national team, which cost him his place in the World Cup squad. 

4. Naby Keita (RB Leipzig - Liverpool FC - £52.75m)

Liverpool's long-term target Naby Keita finally arrived at Anfield for €60m. The Reds have been chasing Keita for two seasons, but had failed to sign him until now.

The Guinea international played 59 times for German club RB Leipzig, before moving to Anfield. Liverpool's wait to sign Keita has surely saved them €20-€30m as the midfielder was boasting a price of over €90m in last summer's window. 

3. Riyad Mahrez (Leicester City FC - Manchester City - £60m)

After last season's spending spree, Manchester City have taken a backseat in this summer transfer window. The defending champions shelled out £60m to sign Leicester's star winger Riyad Mahrez, the only player they have signed so far.

The 27-year-old became the most expensive African player of all-time with this transfer. Mahrez was the pillar of Leicester's rise, scoring 48 goals in the 179 games he played for the Foxes. His inclusion surely adds more sharpness to Pep Guardiola's side, who will start their title-defense against Arsenal on 12th August.

2.  Alisson (AS Roma to Liverpool FC - £65m) 

Liverpool were in desperate need of a quality goalkeeper after Loris Karius' horrendous show in the Champions League final.

The Reds who have been on a spending spree this summer shelled out another £65m for the Brazilian, making him the most expensive goalkeeper of all-time. The 25-year-old had a great last season, keeping 22 clean-sheets across all competitions for Roma.

Chelsea broke the goalkeeper transfer record last night with the signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga for a massive £71.6m. They triggered the 23-year old Athletic Bilbao goalie's release clause.
