The Argentine is also the Etihad outfit's all-time top scorer with 204 goals.

Sergio Aguero has finally put an end to the uncertainty regarding his future with by signing a new contract at Manchester City, tying him down with the Premier League champions until 2021.

Earlier it was rumoured that the Argentine striker would return to boyhood club Independiente after this year's World Cup or in 2019. But, now it seems like the former Atletico Madrid man is enjoying his life in Manchester and his representatives have also reportedly been in talks with the Etihad outfit for quite some time, to formulate a fresh agreement.

Earlier upon the arrival of Pep Guardiola, problems arose, as both of them had issues with each other and the Spanish gaffer preferred Gabriel Jesus over Aguero. But slowly, the striker improved his performances and became the favoured man upfront, again.

After signing the new deal, Aguero said, "I am happy for this additional year. My idea was being here for 10 years. I’ve been here for seven years, it’s going to be 10 when the contract expires. This was the main reason I signed. I’m very happy because they have treated mee very well since the first day I got here.

I’m very happy with everything that involves the club, my teammates, the staff and the management team. It's true that we've got a lot of young talent, that in the future can make the difference. At the same time the youngsters are quite developed already, like Leroy [Sane], Raheem [Sterling], Bernardo [Silva] and Gabriel [Jesus]."

He further added, "There are a lot of players, that have got things to improve and learn, but being in this club you learn and improve faster than anywhere else. We have a good team, we need to be focused and if we are at 100 per cent, we have lots of chances to do great things."

Meanwhile, Txiki Bergiristain (Manchester City's director of football) said, "We are delighted that Sergio is extending his stay at Manchester City. He has been so important to this club since his arrival in 2011 and he remains at the forefront of what we are want to achieve in the coming years. We are fortunate to have had one of the best strikers in the world at our club for so many years and I’m sure our supporters will be thrilled with this news.”

The 30-year old has become a legend at City with a huge fan-following in the blue side of Manchester. Since his arrival in 2011, he has led the club to three Premier League titles ( he scored the title-deciding goal during the 2011-12 season), three EFL Cups and two FA Cups. He is also placed 10th in the all-time Premier League goalscorers list with 146 goals (208 appearances), and is also his club's all-time top scorer with 204 goals.
