The only goal of the match was scored by Richard Fernandes in the first half.

Vasco Sports Club played their heart out but it was not enough as Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim registered a narrow 1-0 win in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium earlier today.

Vasco had secured their first win of the season defeating Guardian Angel SC in the last match, while Cavelossim were edged 1-0 by Corps of Signals in the previous round match in the last week.

Vasco gaffer Eban Mesquita made no changes to his starting XI which won all three points in the last match. Cavelossim coach Severino Fernandes made two changes as Semson Fernandes was back in the line, while, he also gave first start to Michael Silva.

Both the team started the match on a low note as none of the sides were looking serious about taking the advantage in taking the lead. However, in between these Vasco had the best chance in the 9th minutes when Anil Gaonkar sent a perfect cross in the box to John Nnanna but the Nigerian striker failed to keep his header on target.
