Juventus announce the departure of Massimiliano Allegri, Bayern Munich set to sack Niko Kovac

The two managers are said to have left their club hierarchies unimpressed this season after the Champions League debacle.

Massimiliano Allegri is set to leave Juventus at the end of the 2018-19 season. Juventus confirmed the news through their website that Allegri would end his five-year stay at Juventus this season.

The about-to-happen departure wasn't a concealed one for many fans as there were rumours of it everywhere in Europe after Juventus missed out on yet another Champions League title. The Old Lady did come close twice playing the finals of 2014-15 and 2016-17 editions but were left red-faced by the Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo though was seen as the final piece in the cog, but the Portuguese international wasn't just enough for his side as he saw his side lose to a young Ajax team despite Ronaldo scoring in the two legs. Questions were raised whether Allegri is the right man to bring Juventus the Champions League glory and the recent loss to AS Roma proved to be enough for the Juventus board to decide not to continue with the Italian.

Reports of Antonio Conte's arrival were already doing the rounds because of which Allegri wasn't too happy. The Italian tactician was reported to be feeling betrayed by the Sporting Director of Juventus, Fabio Paratici and Vice-President of the Board of directors, Paul Nedved.

Nevertheless, Juventus would be super active in the transfer market as they look to rebuild the squad around Ronaldo as they chase the ultimate prize of Europe. And another team that would possibly have the same intense transfer window is Bundesliga title-chasing table-toppers Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich are planning to invest hugely into the squad rebuilding process and there are rumours of Niko Kovac to be sacked post this season. The sacking looks inevitable regardless of how many trophies/titles the team ends up with, with Bayern still chasing the domestic double.

The club hierarchy hasn't been too impressed with the Croatian manager who joined the Bavarians after impressing during his tenure with Eintracht Frankfurt. The players have time and again questioned the methods of the Croatian and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge holds Kovac responsible for the poor and inconsistent showings of the team.

There are reports of a number of possible names who could replace the Croatian post this summer but the name that has caught the attention most is that of PSV Eindhoven manager Mark Van Bommel. A former player of Bayern, Mark Van Bommel is said to have impressed the club hierarchy enough to get their confidence of him.

The announcement of the departure of Kovac could be made anytime soon but it is believed that the club would wait until the DFB Pokal final is played out.
