The Goa Professional League witnessed yet another upset as Calangute Association beat Salgaocar Football Club 2-1 at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Monday. [KH_ADWORDS type="3" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] After missing couple of chances as Salgaocar FC were punished Calangute Association in the 43rd minute when they were awarded a penalty after their player was brought down by Salgaocar defender Selwyn Miranda. Valerio Rodrigues stepped over and coolly converted from the spot. The winners led 1-0 at the break. Crossing over, they soon doubled the lead when the goal scorer Valerio Fernandes set up Jobern in the box and the lad’s shot gave no chance for the rival keeper. Salgaocar finally found the back of the net in the 67th minute from the spot when they were awarded a penalty as their player Selwyn was brought down in the box by the rival defender. Salgaocar’s Saeesh Halarnkar converted the penalty kick. From there on Calangute defended resolutely till the final whistle as the score remained 2-1 in their favour.Latest News
